Chapter 7

In the early hours of 3 AM at the R City Police Station, Officer Hugo was intently focused on his computer screen.

On the display, I was being wheeled into the operating room, with Garrison standing nearby, his gaze alarmingly lucid.

This surveillance footage should have been destroyed; Garrison had already arranged for someone to handle it.

But Hugo was prepared. From my second resurrection, which coincided with my heart donation to Nolan, he had noticed something amiss.

"The dead don't come back to life," he muttered to himself, staring at my medical records, "unless..."

To uncover the truth, he had installed hidden cameras in several key operating rooms.

Now, he finally had the evidence he'd been waiting for.

"Captain Channing, are you certain?" the doctor in the video was asking.

Garrison nodded, his voice barely audible: "She won't die."

Yet the final image captured by the surveillance showed my body gradually growing cold.
