Goodbye

Nicole's pov~

It had been a few hours since the crowd at the square dispersed. Everyone went about their days, but the aftermath of what had been said at the square stuck with them. It was obvious in the way they tried their hardest to go back to their normal lives.

I stayed at the square, watching literal hours later as they all scrambled around, trying to get back a semblance of normalcy, trying to ignore everything. In a way, I understood. A lot of them had family members, friends, loved ones, be chosen. Admitting that they had had been sent to death and that they had celebrated what was their last days was too hard to imagine, too hard to accept.

Yet, the issue of what to do with the people who were actively involved in all of this still stayed. Otto wanted the whole village to come to a decision together but the villagers just wanted to pretend like nothing had happened so there was nothing to do for now.
