Blood of the Chosen

I did not find a way to slip through the guards, no matter how hard I tried, how long I staked them. There was no openings for me to slip by.

And just like that, three days passed and I only had a day left before the day of the tradition.

Mei and Pei had been distant. Mei still cooked for me and she still let me stay in her place but that was as far as it went. They did not actively talk to me or ask me about my progress or try to help like they were on the first day.

I did not mind it though, I would never see them again in a short while. I just had to be patient and succeed in leaving this place.

As usual, I was staking out the entrance to the cave, hiding behind a small bush. It was the same thing, same routine. There was no opening. I sighed in defeat.
