AURORA RORY WYNTER'S
"What did you say?" I gritted with annoyance, it was those words I hated hearing the most, and seeing this woman saying it annoys me more.
"Are you so fucking retarded? You got something stuck in your ear that you can't fucking hear some..."
She didn't get to finish the words as I snatched my hands from her hold and flashed her a cold glare,
My face was twisted with annoyance, although I might be a submissive wife to Liam, but that was because of my past mistakes and because of my stupid unrequited love, but I would never take any insult from this woman. "Although he didn't like me, and he might not have me in his eyes, but everyone still acknowledged me as his Luna, off the walls of this estate, he could show me off to the world, but tell me who knew Sofia Vega?"
"You." She screamed madly, attempting to slap me, but I caught her wrist.
"I'm still his Luna, that is, the Luna of this pack! So the next time you try to stop me, or hit me... I won't let you off easily, and you should see for yourself the one who is more desperate between us."
Her eyes flashed as she tried to wriggle herself from my hold, I guess she couldn't contain her anger as she screamed, "So what? So what if you're the Luna? In the end I'm going to have him sign the divorce papers and you'd have nothing left!"
"And who told you that I wanted to continue keeping him? Since you're so capable, then convince him to sign the papers, or it couldn't be that you can't bring him to do that? Since you can't, I will wait till he signs the papers, but now I'm still his legal wife." I said letting off my hold on her. I could still make use of this damned title till I'm out of here.
Although I didn't imagine myself saying such words shamelessly, I couldn't tell if it was due to my bottled up feelings, or it might be that I'm just sick and tired of putting up with them.
"You pretentious bitch " she fumed with anger as she charged at me like a mad bull, but at that moment I heard a voice
.
..
...
Liam
"Liam, how could you be so cruel? Would you rather see our mom dead than accept this engagement with Aurora?" My sister's voice echoed in my mind.
I facepalmed myself as I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself down and brush off the memories from that night. However, It was at that moment the door to my office was pushed open.
"I've been looking for you. You asked me to wait in the garden, and I waited, but you didn't come, I thought you might be here so I came... Are you okay? You don't seem well." Sofia asked with her face filled with concern.
She has always been like that, gentle and kind.
"You can come in."
She started walking closer but suddenly stopped midway, "She brought the papers, " she raised her eyebrows questionably at me.
"Yeah, she brought them, and I didn't sign them."
Sofia's eyes narrowed, and her brows furrowed in confusion, "Liam, what's going on? You've been waiting for three years for this opportunity, and now you're hesitating?"
Right, why was I hesitating? I also wanted out of this marriage, but why would I suddenly want an anniversary instead of signing the papers?
That woman had taken away my dreams and tangled me in an almost unbreakable chain; she did what all those wealthy people know how to do best; manipulation.
Thus, during our three years, all I ever wanted was to dump her and get married to my mate, Sofia. She had always been there for me, even during the ambush that night, Sofia had nursed me back to my health, she was the only person that understood me.
But what I didn't understand was why would I announce our anniversary instead of just signing the fucking papers and get this over with?
But then I realized that even though I've been waiting for this moment for years, now that it's here, I'm not sure if I want to let her go. Not yet.

The next day
Aurora
To think Sofia had reluctantly left my room yesterday evening because of Karina's interruption, she had even brushed past her angrily, almost pushing the woman away.
A bodyguard nearby came to open the car door, my mind still reeling from the argument, but the moment I looked inside, I almost got a heart attack as I felt my heart jump with a scare.
"What? Not coming in?" He asked, all while still having his eyes closed and leisurely leaning against the car seat.
Liam's eyebrows were knitted together as he added, "Are you coming in or not? Or should I have the car moving without you?"
I took a deep breath and slid into the car, deliberately placing myself on the opposite side of the seat to create some distance between us.
"Ma'am, the ride will take about thirty minutes, because the party is being held in the newly constructed auditorium in the heart of Moonsburg City, " Caleb explained.
I cleared my throat , "Thanks for the information, Wellesley."
He ignited the car, and it drove out of the estate.

The car pulled over at the venue. I took a deep breath as some bodyguard whose car was parked behind ours came out to escort me from the car.
I stepped out of the car, and Liam's hand enveloped mine, his grip was warm and somewhat possessive.
The camera flashes blinded me for a moment, and I smiled, trying to hide my discomfort. But it wasn't the reporters that made me uncomfortable— it was Liam himself.
One of them asked rushing forward, "Alpha Ryder, how does it feel to be here tonight?"
I wasn't expecting him to politely take the mic, "I'm the happiest man on the planet," he said in a low and husky voice.
"Alpha Ryder, what's the secret to your successful marriage?"
Liam's gaze locked onto mine, and I felt a shiver run down my spine. "You're enjoying this, aren't you?" I asked, trying to keep my tone light.
He didn't reply to me, instead he continued to answer their questions, "It's all about finding the right person, who has the best qualities a man could want in his lifetime partner, especially when they're not manipulative, and I've found mine."
"Luna, how do you feel knowing you're living the dream of every lady?"
I laughed, trying to sound natural, but it came out a little too loud, and a little too forced. "You can imagine."
The questions kept coming, each one more probing than the last. "Alpha Ryder, how do you balance the pack affairs and family life?"
"When do you plan to have your heir?"
Thankfully, the bodyguards stepped in, "Enough!" they barked, pushing some of them back.
We finally stepped inside together, the door closed behind us, and I let out a sigh of relief. "Let's get this over with."
The auditorium was large, there were crystal chandeliers hanging above, soft music was playing in the background, and it was filled with pack members, all of whom seemed to be watching us. Liam's grip on my hand tightened, "Stay close." He whispered.
"Congratulations on your anniversary, may your love continue to grow!"
Just as we were exchanging pleasantries with a group of guests, Edward Ryder, Liam's father, approached us. He opened his arms as he enveloped me in a gentle embrace.
"Aurora, my dear, it's so wonderful to see you," Edward said, his voice was low and soothing.
"Father, you're looking quite dashing tonight," I said, raising an eyebrow.
Edward chuckled and patted my hand. "And you, my dear, you're as beautiful as ever."
Next, he turned to Liam, "Congratulations, son. Or should I say Alpha?"
He laughed afterward and patted Liam's back, "I hope you've been treating her well, you know, she's an incredible woman." The last part was whispered near his ear.
He frowned for a moment and didn't reply, instead he asked, "Where's mother?"
Edward's smile faltered, and for a moment, his shoulders sagged, but he recovered quickly as he tried to hide it with an even brighter smile, causing his eyes to squint at the corners. "She has something to attend to, so she won't be able to come."
"Alright", Liam replied to him with a casual nod.
"Ermm, can I see you for a moment?" Edward asked Liam who answered with a nod, and with that, both of them walked away.
Liam's father was such a nice person to me, even though his wife wasn't the nicer. Of course, I knew she didn't come to the anniversary intentionally. She didn't like me.
With Liam gone, I could finally take a deep breath as I continued to greet the guests with a forced smile. But everything blurred together when an old woman with green eyes walked up to me and leaned in close. Her voice was barely audible. "Chaos... huge chaos," she whispered. "You shall be his death or his salvation, and he, your fated one, shall either save the city or raze it to the ground."
With that, she disappeared into the crowd, leaving me stunned. It was at that moment I heard a voice behind me.
"Luna Aurora Rory Wynter!"
