"So, you're saying we have plenty of students but no inventors?"
"Exactly. There's no one who understands reality well enough to create something practical."
It wasn't surprising, Ming thought. The gap between those who grew up in advanced societies and those just beginning to explore new technologies was bound to be vast.
"And how do you suggest we fix this?" Ming asked.
"How should I know? I'm just a firearms developer from the States," John replied with a shrug.
Even though John claimed ignorance, their conversation had already sparked an idea in Ming's mind. Internal growth might not be enough—they needed external talent.

"Wait, does this mean I can increase my research budget?"
