chapter 15 Heart

The journey through the woods was quiet, but the air between them crackled with unspoken emotions. Lyria felt the lingering warmth of Elias's kiss, her lips still tingling with the memory of it. She stole glances at him, watching the way the moonlight cast shadows along his sharp features.

"Where are we going?" she finally asked, breaking the silence.

Elias hesitated for a moment before answering. "To the ruins. There's something you need to see before you make your decision."

Lyria frowned. "My decision? About what?"

He sighed, slowing his pace. "About staying with me. About what comes next for us."

Her breath hitched, her heart skipping a beat. The way he said us sent warmth flooding through her chest, but it was also laced with an ominous weight she couldn't ignore.

"What's at the ruins?" she pressed.

Elias ran a hand through his dark hair, his golden eyes flickering with something unreadable. "The truth about me. About who I really am."

Lyria swallowed hard, nodding. She had asked for this—demanded it, even. Now, she had to be ready for whatever awaited her.

They walked in silence until they reached a clearing where ancient stone pillars jutted out from the earth like the bones of a forgotten kingdom. The air here was thick with magic, the kind that made Lyria's skin prickle.

Elias stopped in front of a worn stone altar, his gaze heavy. "This is where it all began. Where I was first bound to the curse that ties me to the wolves."

Lyria stepped closer, her fingers brushing against the cold surface of the stone. "Tell me everything, Elias. No more secrets."

He turned to her, his expression vulnerable in a way she had never seen before. "Then you should know... loving me will come with a cost, Lyria. Are you willing to pay it?"

Her heart pounded as she met his gaze. She had already made her choice. Now, she just needed to prove it to him.

Lyria stepped forward, pressing a hand against his chest, feeling the steady beat of his heart beneath her palm. "I don't care about curses, Elias. I care about you."

Something in him seemed to break at her words. In the next breath, his arms were around her, holding her tightly as if she were the only thing keeping him from falling apart.

Whatever truth lay ahead, whatever dangers lurked in the shadows, one thing was certain—she was his, and he was hers.

No curse could change that.
