ch 1 Transmigration!

The sun had just begun to dip below the horizon, casting golden hues across the school rooftop. A gentle breeze swept through, ruffling Soo Hee's dark hair as she stood quietly, taking in the view. For a moment, everything felt… calm. Almost too calm.

Her eyes closed as she let the wind pass through her fingers.

"So peaceful… unlike the life I've always known."

Born inside the headquarters of an underground assassination organization, Soo Hee's childhood had never known peace. She was a product of cruel experiments funded by billionaires and protected under the shadows of government secrecy. Their goal: to forcefully awaken mana in humans.

At the age of seven, she had done the impossible manifested mana.

Alongside three other surviving test subjects, she became a lethal weapon. A child assassin with terrifying potential.

But then came the government's final order. "Terminate the project. Terminate the subjects."

Somehow, she survived.

Now, Soo Hee lived in the body of a high school girl under the roof of a twisted adoptive family. She wore a polite smile at school, had friends, attended classes… but everything was a facade. A mask over the broken soul of a living weapon.

As the sky darkened, a sudden shove sent her heart plunging into chaos.

"W-What!? What's happening!?"

Her feet left the ground. She was falling.

"I can't use my magic....why!?"

The world around her began to blur. The sound of the wind faded. Her heartbeat slowed.

And then

"Time froze."

Her sight dimmed. Her breath caught in her throat.

"No… no… not like this…"

Everything went dark.

Tsk, tsk.

A voice, unfamiliar and yet somehow teasing.

"How long are you going to sleep, hmm?"

Soo Hee's eyes snapped open.

A dim light flickered through a dusty window. The ceiling above her was wooden and cracked. The air was cold, and the scent of mildew lingered.

Thud.

"Did someone just push me off the bed!?" she gasped, sitting up.

A girl stood nearby with crossed arms dark brown hair tied back, small dark feirace eyes, and freckles scattered across her pale face like stars in a dusky sky.Her face was full of malice.

She looked like... a European maid from some 18s period drama.

"My lady, dreaming won't help you escape reality. Just eat already and make my job easier."

Soo Hee blinked.

"W-Who are you?"

"Hah?" the maid raised a brow. "Have you finally gone mad? Well, call me Miss Betty if you must."

Soo Hee's eyes widened.

"...Betty? Betty Volsky?!"

The maid paused, then scoffed. "So what if I am? You've really hit your head, haven't you?"

Soo Hee stumbled toward the dusty mirror in the corner.

Reflecting in the glass wasn't the girl she'd always known.

It was a fragile-looking beauty with silken, pastel silver-white hair that pooled like snow around her shoulders. Turquoise-blue eyes, like rare gemstones, stared back at her with disbelief. Her skin looked soft and pale, her figure elegant yet breakable.

She raised a delicate hand.

"Who... is this girl?"

Behind her, Betty's voice snapped her out of her daze. "Hey! What are you spacing out for in broad daylight?"

Soo Hee's thoughts raced.

Betty Volsky. The name of the maid from the novel I once read.

This silver-haired girl… This body… this place…

"No way. I… I'm in my novel!?"

Just then

A chime echoed inside her head.

Ding!
