CHAPTER EIGHT

Adrianna's pov.

I woke up early, feeling some pains in some parts of my body. I knew the cause of the pain was about the way Liam hit me hard, but whenever I remember the incident which happened at night, I always feel happy and comfortable that he has slept with me once. 

I stood aside my window, smiling and feeling the morning breeze until the palace maid drew my attention. At first, I didn't know she was beside me calling until she touched me. That was when I felt her palms and turned to my back. 

Q"How long have you been standing here?" I asked. 

"For some seconds now" she said. If she could have stood there all this while I think she must have heard all that I said about me and what happened between us, I think it wouldn't be a bad question If I ask her what she heard. 

"I was saying something earlier. Can you please remind me about it?" I said. 

"What, I didn't hear you saying anything when I came in," she said. 

"Are you sure you didn't hear anything?" I asked. 

"Not at all," she said, shaking her head in a "No". 

"Okay no problems, besides why are you here? Do you have any message for me?" I asked. 

"I was sent by the king to call you downstairs so you can come have your dinner at the dining table," she said. 

"Okay, I will be there in a few seconds. Let me just freshen up. But are you really sure you didn't hear anything?". I asked again, yet she still gave me the same reply by shaking her head. 

I was really suspicious about her but since she didn't admit she heard anything I won't force words from her mouth. It's just better if I let her go and face other things. I took my shower very fast to avoid Liam blaming me for keeping him waiting because he was hungry. I have no energy to give excuses to him, so I was fast to avoid problems. I went downstairs and joined the dinning table as we were eating. He brought up a conversation about what I didn't expect him to say, which surprised me. 

"Since you became the Luna I think you haven't walked around the park to know some few places around" he said. On hearing this I hardly put the food I was having into my mouth because I was really surprised and overwhelmed because I heard him say something I wasn't expecting from him. 

"Why are you shocked? Is anything difficult? Or are you afraid of following me?" He asked. 

I sighed in relief before talking to him. "So, which of the questions should I answer first?" I asked. 

"Any of them is acceptable," he said. 

"Okay, I am not afraid of following you neither is there any difficulty in following you really I was surprised because I wasn't expecting this from you, I really didn't believe that you would say something like that that is why I am shocked okay" I said. 

"Now that you have heard it from me, what is your reply? Are you following me or not?" he asked. 

"Why would I say no to your request, surely I am following you to anywhere you are going" I said? 

As we were discussing smiling and laughing at each other's jokes I felt we were coming along with each other and that would be perfect if eventually we end up in a real and long-lasting relationship. We talked and toasted wine together until Liam's special and I must say trusted guard came to him and called him out telling him it was important and must be said I'm private. They stood by the corner of the wall, murmuring because they wanted me not to hear anything. 

I was kept in suspense as I saw Liam coming in with a frown face. I knew the news which the guard came to tell him must be a bad one that was why he wore a frown face. I kept asking him questions why suddenly, he was sad. I asked in curiosity, but he kept saying that it wasn't to be shared to anyone apart from him, I persuaded him to but still, he played hard to get. 

Furthermore, I wandered around everywhere, knowing that something was wrong somewhere, and I needed to find out what it was, but I still wasn't getting a positive answer from any of them I was asking. "What is really the problem? Liam was chatting and smiling a while ago, and now he is wearing a frown face. What is really the problem? I don't get it anymore. He even promised that he was going to take me around the park. Everything happening around me is perplexing and my curiosity is eager to know everything, but I am still not getting any positive reply from anyone about what is really going on with everyone here. I have to make a move to know how to go about all this because I can't sit and watch everywhere, cold and boring. 

I wandered from one wall to the other like someone who doesn't have a destination until my special maid handed a written note to me saying it was brought to me by some stranger. 

"A stranger? Didn't you recognize his face or something about him?" I asked. 

"No, I didn't see anything about him because he was putting on a mask," she said. 

"Okay you can go" I said. 

I opened the letter reading through it and found out it was a strange letter written to threaten me but what I was focused on was who sent it. 

"I know the only person who would be capable of doing something like that would be none other than Adrian. I so much know his ways, but this time he is being cranky and tricking.
