Chapter 22: It Was All Xinya’s Wishful Thinking

Xinya had used this excuse so many times in their previous lives that Weiwei could recite it word for word by heart. If it was the previous Weiwei, she would just have swiped her card, but not anymore.

"I just took you shopping since I don't need to buy anything, so I just brought the credit card I use at school and its limit is $10,000. So, I can't pay for you today. You can just call your mom to send you money."

Xinya was so caught up in thinking of ways to make Weiwei pay for her bag that she did not realize that Weiwei had said 'your mother' and not the usual 'mother'. Fang Zhang, Xinya's biological mother, was also Xia Mo, Weiwei's father's second wife. Since she married Weiwei's father, she has always wore a façade of a loving mother, which led to Weiwei trusting her and calling her mother.

But now that Weiwei knew she was the one who killed her mother, she would never call her that again. Otherwise, her mother, Wen Qiqi, would turn in her grave. It was such a pity that the person who killed her mother took her place and has been enjoying the benefits of her mother's hard work for years. When Weiwei thought of this, she got so angry that she almost could not control herself from rushing to the Xia residence and confronting her.

But she knew that being impulsive would only put her in danger and alert the enemy to cover their tracks better. She had to investigate everything first and gather the evidence before she confronts Fang Zhang or Xinya. It took her a minute before she took several deep breaths to regain her composure.

"What about the card that Brother Shian gave to you?"

Xinya moved closer to Weiwei and asked this in a low voice that only the two of them could hear. Only now did Weiwei realize that Xinya had been calling Mo Shian Brother Shian instead of brother-in-law. This is an obvious sign of her thoughts about wanting to get Mo Shian for herself, but the previous Weiwei never suspected a thing.

"I didn't bring it. Also, Shian is your brother-in-law, so you should address him as such and call him so intimately as Brother Shian as it might bring confusion and lead to misunderstandings."

Weiwei did not lower her voice so those who were standing near them heard what she said. They started to wonder who she was and why Xia Xinya would call her own brother-in-law so intimately. Xinya was so angry that she almost lashed out. When Weiwei got married, she had brainwashed her and convinced her to keep her marriage to Mo Shian a secret as it might bring her trouble and the stupid Weiwei obeyed. Little did she know that Xinya had ulterior motives, as she did not want people to know that Mo Shian was married to Weiwei so that when she succeeded in separating them, the public would not know that she had married her ex-brother-in-law.

But, obviously, she had thought too much, as in their previous lives, no matter how miserable they were, Mo Shian never thought of divorcing Weiwei. So, it was all Xinya's wishful thinking. Now that Weiwei had been given another chance, she had no intention of keeping her marriage under wraps. If she could let the entire world know that Mo Shian was her husband, then she would do it.

This store had customers from some of the most prestigious families in City Y. Since Weiwei's wedding was not publicized and only a few wealthy families who have a close relationship with the Xia family and the Mo family were invited, not many people knew that she was Mo Shian's wife. Xinya would've liked it to stay that way but Weiwei now had a different idea. She wanted everyone to know she was Mo Shian's wife.

She remembered in their previous lives that Mo Shian had practically begged her many times to introduce her to the public, but she followed Xinya's advice and refused. So, the public only knew that Mo Shian was married but they never got to know his wife.

"Well, weren't you keeping your marriage a secret, why are you saying that out so loud now?" Xinya couldn't help but ask this through greeting teeth. She could not allow the public to know that Weiwei was Mo Shian's wife. But her wishes were just that, wishes.

"I am already married to Mo Shian and nothing is going to change. We will grow old together, so it doesn't matter whether people know about our marriage or not."

Again, Weiwei did not lower her voice and, since the store had quietened down to watch the drama, almost everyone heard her.

Gasps could be heard from the crowd as no one had expected that the simple-looking young girl was the wife of one of the most handsome and sought-after men in the city and even the country.

Knowing that she was Mo Shian's wife, the women and even men in the store started to evaluate her in a different light. Those who had mocked her as wearing imitations or clothes from a roadside stall almost wanted to find a hole to bury themselves. How could Mo Shian's wife wear imitations or cheap goods from roadside stalls? Was that not the joke of the century?

Only now did one woman in the crowd gasp loudly and comment on Weiwei's clothes.

"Now that I think about it, the material used for her top and the shorts are of the highest quality. Also, the design resembles the work of Eric Regnode, the most famous designer."

"That's true, these are custom-made clothes by Eric Regnode. Even the shoes are custom made." Another lady commented.

"Her outfit alone could buy several bags in this store."

" I am really envious of her, she is so young but has got to marry such a high-quality man. If I could marry a guy who is even half of Mr. Mo, then I would smile even in my dreams."
