Chapter 20: The Captivity

Austin's POV

The hidden passage led us to a dark street with dim streetlights.

The noise of the enforcers already gone and it seems like we are safer for a bit.

“Care to explain how you pulled that little trick?” I whispered as we kept running.

“Illusion magic.” Frank smirked.“Simple but effective. You’re welcome, by the way.”

“Where exactly are we going?”

“My hideout,” he muttered, glancing over his shoulder as though expecting someone to follow us. “The old clock tower.”

“You live in a clock tower?” I raised my eyebrows in surprise.

“Not exactly luxury,” he shrugged, “but it’s safe. Trust me.”

After what felt like a race of eternity, we finally stopped in front of the imposing clock tower.

“Inside,” Frank ordered as he kicked the door open.

We entered and climbed up the narrow spiral staircase until we got to a small attic-like room with broken furniture and a cracked window offering a view of the city below.
