Sophia finished her call, and the person on the other end hung up.

She hurried to the entrance of the emergency room and saw Abigail crying her eyes out.

Ava was leaning on Abigail’s shoulder, her eyes swollen from crying.

"Where’s my little brother?" Sophia asked. "What happened? Who’s being treated?"

"You jinx," Ava looked at Sophia with hatred. "Get out of here, it’s all your fault. If it weren’t for you, our family wouldn’t have been in trouble all the time."

Sophia ignored Ava and looked at the pained Abigail. "Who’s being treated inside?" she asked.

"Your father," Abigail said in a hoarse voice. "Your little brother is too young for this kind of situation, so I asked your brother to take him out for a walk to comfort him."

Sophia’s face turned as white as paper as she looked at the emergency room with its red light flashing.

"What happened to Dad?" Her heart was trembling.
