Robert’s steps suddenly stopped, and his body looked like it froze.
“What did you say?” he asked.
Sophia took a small step back, putting some space between them. Robert was looking at her with eyes even colder than before.
“Please dismiss me, President Robert,” she said, saying each word very clearly.
Robert felt like someone poured boiling alcohol right into his heart. It hurt badly.
“No way!” he replied. Just two words, but they made Sophia’s face go pale.
Still, she stood straight, lifted her chin, and repeated firmly, “Please dismiss me.”
Robert stepped closer. His cold eyes stared straight into hers like he was trying to see through her.
“Why are you so eager to leave me? Why did you come to me and ask to marry me in the first place?” he asked. His voice was low and cold, like he was blaming her.
Sophia was confused. “President Robert, what do you mean?” she asked.
