A Night In Euphoria

After what felt like an eternity of internal struggle, Evangeline finally spoke, her voice trembling slightly.

“Alexandrez, don’t you think you’ve been too harsh on the Prescott family? After all… Aurelia loves you wholeheartedly.”

Her words hung in the air, tentative and cautious, as though afraid to stir the storm that loomed over their table.

Alexandrez Kings set the menu down once again, this time with deliberate slowness.

His sharp gaze fixed on Evangeline, piercing through her like ice. “Didn’t you just say you understood my temper?”

Evangeline’s breath hitched.

She had known Alexandrez for over a decade, but the man before her seemed colder, more distant than ever before.

During the four years she’d been away, he had become a puzzle she could no longer solve. S

She recognized the fury simmering beneath his calm facade, and it sent a shiver of unease down her spine.

“I… I didn’t mean anything by it!” she stammered, her voice quick and nervous. “Alexandrez, please don’t be angry. I was just asking casually. I won’t do it again… I promise.”

There was a long, tense silence before Alexandrez finally spoke.

His voice was low and emotionless, a sharp contrast to her frantic tone. “Evangeline, the position of Mrs. Kings has always belonged to you.”

Relief washed over her like a tidal wave, and her lips curved into a radiant smile. “Thank you, Alexandrez!” she exclaimed, her earlier fear replaced by elation.

If Alexandrez had declared it, it was as good as set in stone.

She allowed herself to imagine their wedding, grand, luxurious, and the talk of Everstone Hill.

She would finally have the life she deserved, standing proudly by Alexandrez’s side.

As for Aurelia?

Let her burn in her misery.

Evangeline, now in a blissful mood, stopped pestering Alexandrez and turned her attention to her meal.

Every bite tasted sweeter as she envisioned her perfect future.

Meanwhile, across town, Sophia linked arms with Aurelia, her expression tinged with concern. “Aurelia, there’s no one at your house, and I know you don’t want to go back. How about we head to Euphoria? It’s better than brooding all night.”

Euphoria was a famous elite bar the two frequented when they needed to unwind.

Sophia’s suggestion was clear, she wanted to distract Aurelia from the dark cloud that Alexandrez had left over her.

Aurelia hesitated briefly before nodding. “Alright. Let’s go.”

The vibrant energy of Euphoria enveloped them as they walked through the doors.

Normally, they’d book a private room for themselves, away from prying eyes, but tonight was different.

Aurelia didn’t want seclusion. She wanted noise, something loud enough to drown out her thoughts.

The hall was alive with deafening music, its heavy bass reverberating through her chest.

For the first time that day, Aurelia felt the suffocating pressure on her heart ease, if only a little.

Sophia ordered a Long Island Iced Tea without hesitation.

“Here,” she said, sliding the glass toward Aurelia.

But Aurelia shook her head, her tone firm. “No alcohol for me tonight.” Instead, she ordered a non-alcoholic Bloody Mary, much to Sophia’s amusement.

“Oh, Miss Prescott, since when have you turned into such a goody-two-shoes?” Sophia teased, a sly grin on her face.

Aurelia rolled her eyes and gave her friend a playful glare. “Since I decided someone in this duo needs to stay sane.”
