Sister’s bond

I love days like this. The sun is shining, and I'm surrounded by my favorite people. My little sister Eniola is being her usual goofy self, making me laugh with her silly impressions.

"Kate, Kate! Watch this!" Eniola exclaims, striking a pose in front of the mirror. She's wearing my old dance costume, a sparkly tutu and a matching tiara.

There's a five year age gap between Eniola and I but she's the center of my world, my best friend and partner in crime. She's nine years old but she knows more than her age.

I chuckle and shake my head. "Eni,you're such a diva!"

"Eniola grins mischievously. "Hey, someone's got to bring some drama to this family!"

We both burst out laughing, and our mom, Sarah", pokes her head into the room. "What's going on here?" she asks, smiling.

"Just 'Eni' being her usual fabulous self," I reply, winking at my sister.

Mom chuckles and shakes her head. "Well, I'm glad to my see you two are having fun. But don't forget, Kate, you have a math test tomorrow. Make sure you study tonight."

I nod obediently, but "Eniola" pipes up. "Mom, can we have a picnic in the park tomorrow? Pleeease?"

Mom hesitates for a moment before responding. "We'll see, "Eni". If Kate does well on her test, we can plan something special for the weekend."

Eniola's face lights up. "Yay! Thanks, Mom!"

As Mom heads back to the kitchen, Eniola turns to me with a mischievous glint in her eye. "Hey, Kate, can I ask you something?"

"Sure, what's up?" I reply, curious.

"Do you believe in aliens?" Eni asks, her voice barely above a whisper.

I laugh. "Well, I don't know if I believe in aliens, but I do think it's possible that there's life elsewhere in the universe."

Eniola's eyes widen. "Really? You think so?"

I nod. "Yeah, I mean, the universe is so vast and mysterious. It's hard to imagine that we're the only living beings out there."

My sister nods thoughtfully. "I never thought of it that way. But what if aliens do exist? What if they're, like, super advanced and stuff?"

I grin. "Well, if that's the case, maybe they can help us solve some of the world's problems."

Her face lights up. "Yeah! Like, maybe they can show us how to make clean energy or something."

As we continue to chat, I realize how much I love these moments with Eniola. She's always been a curious and imaginative kid, and I love seeing the world through her eyes.

Later that day, I meet up with my friends Nandi, Anna, and Tasha at school. We're all chatting and laughing as we walk to our next class.

"Hey, Kate, have you heard the latest gossip?" Anna asks, a sly grin spreading across her face.

I raise an eyebrow. "What's going on?"

"Well, apparently, Mr. Johnson is getting a divorce," Anna says, her voice barely above a whisper.

Nandi's eyes widen. "No way! I had no idea."

Tasha nods. "Yeah, I heard it from my cousin's sister. Apparently, it's been a long time coming."

As we continue to chat and gossip, I feel grateful for these friendships. We've been through so much together, and I know I can always count on them to be there for me.

After school, I head home and start studying for my math test. Eniola comes into my room and plops down beside me.

"Hey, Kate, can I help you study?" she asks, looking up at me with big brown eyes.

I smile and ruffle her hair. "Thanks, Sis,but I think I've got it covered. Besides, you need to focus on your own schoolwork."

Eniola pouts, but then her face brightens up. "Hey, Kate, can we have a dance party tonight after dinner?"

I laugh. "You're always up for a dance party, aren't you?"

She nods enthusiastically. "Yeah! It'll be so much fun! We can play all our favorite songs and dance like crazy."

I grin, feeling a surge of excitement. "Okay, deal! We'll have a dance party tonight."

As I continue to study, I feel grateful for these moments with Eniola. She's always been my little partner in crime, and I love sharing these experiences with her.
