"Alec, is this all she owes you? Is this what she deserves?"

He felt chilled to the bone, barely able to stand, leaning against the wall for support.

He too had experienced the agony of losing his sight, the despair of his career being derailed.

But that was only for a brief period.

He couldn't begin to imagine how Dashiell had endured four years of constant, excruciating nerve pain.

Or how she had held back tears, watching the one she loved deeply push her step by step into the abyss.

Captain Stone looked at him, laughing angrily, yet tears streamed down uncontrollably.

"Dashiell had also longed for a reunion, hoping for a chance to explain everything.

But she never dreamed it would be a reunion like this, did she?"

Those words struck like a thunderbolt, and Alec collapsed to the ground, no longer able to stand.

In that moment, he finally saw clearly the hatred in his heart.
