Seeing him, I was shocked—shocked that he had managed to find my residence.

However, on second thought, given his influence, this wasn't particularly difficult.

"Faye, I've finally found you!"

Alec's face was a picture of someone who had lost and regained something precious, to the point where tears welled up in his eyes.

"Do you know how hard I've been searching for you? I've already been to five cities."

I instinctively glanced at him, noticing that he no longer had his former polished and proper appearance. He looked disheveled and dispirited.

I sighed, "Alec, we're over."

Catching the finality in my eyes, Alec softened his tone.

"I'm sorry, Faye. I shouldn't have let you bear the pain of Dad's passing alone, and I shouldn't have let you misunderstand. Isadora and I are really just friends."
