Just as things were starting to look up for Richard, disaster struck. Karl woke up one morning to find Richard clutching his chest in agony.
"Richard, what's wrong?" Karl cried, rushing to his side.
Richard's face was contorted in pain, and he could barely speak. "My...chest...hurts," he gasped.
Karl didn't hesitate. He quickly called an ambulance, and within minutes, Richard was being rushed to the hospital.
Karl followed close behind, his heart racing with worry. What was happening to Richard? Was it a heart attack? A stroke?
As they arrived at the hospital, Karl was greeted by a team of frantic doctors and nurses. They quickly whisked Richard away, leaving Karl to pace anxiously in the waiting room.
Hours ticked by, and Karl's anxiety grew. What was happening to Richard? Was he going to be okay?
Finally, a doctor emerged from the ICU, looking grim. "Mr. Karl, I'm afraid Richard has suffered a severe heart attack. We're doing everything we can to stabilize him, but it's going to be a long and difficult road to recovery."
Karl's world went dark. A heart attack? Richard was only 20 years old. How could this be happening?
As the reality of the situation sunk in, Karl felt a wave of fear wash over him. What if Richard didn't make it? What if he lost his best friend?
With a heavy heart, Karl sat down in the waiting room, preparing himself for the long and uncertain journey ahead.
