Garrison always listened to Melody.
I thought for sure he would let go of my hand, but to my surprise, he said unexpectedly,
"Be good, I'll be right back."
I was a bit astonished. This was the first time Garrison had ever left Melody behind.
He didn't even look back when she called out to him several times.
Unfortunately, I didn't need Garrison's concern.
"You don't have to do this."
Hearing these words, Garrison frowned in displeasure, wearing an expression like he'd just fed a stray dog.
He didn't understand why he had married Jolene in the first place for her obedience and low-maintenance nature, yet now this very quality irritated him so much.
"Jolene, if you're hurt, go to the hospital. Stop pretending to be miserable just to get my attention!"
"I've told you before, no matter what you do, I will never fall in love with you! Save your energy!"
I chuckled helplessly, not bothering to engage in any more pointless arguments.
At that moment, a group of reporters suddenly rushed out from around the corner.
Simultaneously, Melody's voice could be heard from behind.
As the reporters surrounded the three of us, leaving no room for escape, danger seemed imminent.Garrison, worried that Melody might be hurt, pushed me aside without a second thought. He rushed over to shield her in his arms and left first.
The reporters didn't even notice someone had fallen. They chased after the two, swarming past me and trampling over my body.
I could only helplessly curl up on the ground, covering my head, letting out cries of pain with each blow.
When the crowd finally dispersed, I struggled to get up from the ground, only to discover that my left foot had been brutally trampled and broken.
The pain was so excruciating I nearly passed out. Trembling, I pleaded for help from a nearby reporter who hadn't left yet,
"Please... could you call an ambulance for me..."
To my shock, the next second, he swung his camera and smashed it against my already injured temple.
Once, twice, three times...
Blood quickly gushed down, staining my vision red.
If it weren't for my phone suddenly ringing, he had no intention of stopping.
Fearing the ringtone might attract others, he cursed and spat out before leaving,
"Listen up, you bitch! If you know what's good for you, get lost and let Melody take your place with Garrison!"
After he left, I was finally able to pick up my phone that had fallen to the ground.
To my surprise, Garrison's name was flashing on the screen.
"Help..."
