Chapter 060: Girls from Other Clans Are Easier to Fool
Wakama Senju looked at Uchiha Yuki standing before him, her face stubborn yet delicate.
She had inherited the Uchiha clan's sharp features, along with a hint of allure from her mother's side.
Upon closer inspection, she was actually a strikingly beautiful woman with a cold, elegant charm.
Wakama remained on guard, his expression stern as he glanced at the medicine bottle she had shoved into his hands. "This thing isn't worth much to me. Returning it like this are you trying to avoid owing me a favor?"
"If you really want to repay the debt, simply returning medicine that's no longer useful to you isn't enough."
Wakama spoke seriously, watching as Uchiha Yuki froze at his words.
"You've already accepted the favor. The fact that you're returning it now isn't because you don't want to owe me, but because it's no longer useful to you. But the debt remains."
Wakama hated these kinds of interpersonal entanglements. Originally, he hadn't cared about this matter, but this girl in front of him was being unnecessarily stubborn.
Her actions seemed like an attempt to cut ties cleanly.
But a true clean break would mean never interacting again, not risking danger to return something as trivial as medicine.
Wakama studied the girl before him.
It wasn't that he was narcissistic, but he genuinely felt that she had done this on purpose just to see him.
Perhaps even Uchiha Yuki herself hadn't realized it, but she had subconsciously taken this action.
In the days since his sister Tsukuyo had "corrected" him, Wakama had encountered too many members of the opposite sex who harbored "ulterior motives" toward him. He was well aware of his own charm.
This was also one of the reasons why Wakama had become increasingly adept at handling the opposite sex. He wasn't someone just any woman could approach.
There was no shame in it his appearance was one of his weapons.
He should rightfully enjoy the convenience this weapon brought him.
Of course, if he were to outright say something like, "You actually like me, don't you?" this girl would likely die of embarrassment and never show her face again.
Recalling his sister's earlier words, a thought suddenly formed in Wakama's mind.
This girl who had come to him wasn't she just perfect?
Compared to scouting the Senju clan's bathhouse for those bewitching girls Tsukuyo had "polished," it was much easier to fool a naive girl from another clan.
Uchiha Yuki's brows furrowed. "Then… how do you want me to repay this debt?"
Wakama crossed his arms, pretending to think deeply.
After a while, he sighed. "To be honest, your Uchiha clan is quite poor…"
As soon as these words left his mouth, Uchiha Yuki visibly bristled with anger.
But the expression only lasted for a moment before she deflated.
If anyone from another clan had said this, Uchiha Yuki would have retorted immediately.
But coming from Wakama Senju, it wasn't an exaggeration.
The Senju clan sold health and prosperity, avoiding the bloodshed of war and simply extorting nobles to amass vast wealth.
So Uchiha Yuki was left speechless.
Wakama continued, "And you—you're only valued in your clan because of your eyes. You're somewhat important, but not exactly a top priority."
"You're a bit stronger than your peers, with some combat ability, but not overwhelmingly so."
"Moreover, because of your personal circumstances, your future is quite precarious. In a few years, it'll be easy for you to expose the secret you've been hiding all this time unless you marry a girl and ruin her life."
Uchiha Yuki: "…"
Wakama's words were harsh but undeniably realistic.
Wakama went on, "If I were to demand money from you, you probably couldn't give me much anyway. In the end, I'd still be at a loss."
Uchiha Yuki's expression became complicated, and she couldn't help but mutter, "Just say it directly. What do you want? If you're asking me to betray my clan, you might as well kill me."
Wakama's gaze swept over Uchiha Yuki, lingering until she began to feel uneasy.
Then, he suddenly said, "…I've been going through something really difficult lately."
He felt the setup was sufficient and decided to make his move.
Uchiha Yuki looked at Wakama and responded, "Is there… something I can do to help?"
"Yes…" Wakama met her gaze and said, "A girl I was very close to suddenly became cold toward me. I don't know what I did wrong, and I don't want to think about her anymore, but the pain is eating at me. I need to take steps to move on quickly."
Hearing this, Uchiha Yuki fell silent.
Wakama continued, "My sister told me that the way to get over the pain of a breakup is to start a new relationship."
Of course, Tsukuyo hadn't phrased it exactly like that Wakama had tweaked it a bit.
Uchiha Yuki stared at Wakama in disbelief and blurted out, "That's impossible…"
Wakama's meaning was clear, but it felt too frivolous.
Uchiha Yuki instinctively refused.
Wakama lowered his eyes and chuckled. "You're right. I've scared you. My apologies. Let's just leave it at that. You can throw the medicine into the Naka River if you don't need it. It won't make a difference either way."
With that, Wakama slowly began to retreat, moving away from Uchiha Yuki.
Just as he was about to disappear into the darkness,
Uchiha Yuki suddenly spoke again. "Wait…"
Wakama silently stopped in his tracks.
An awkward silence enveloped the two.
After what felt like an eternity, Uchiha Yuki took a deep breath and asked softly, "What should I do?"
Wakama almost laughed inwardly. As expected… girls who hadn't been "polished" by Tsukuyo were the easiest to fool.
Moreover, the Uchiha clan was different from the Hyuga clan. While both were proud, Uchiha Yuki's status within her clan was different from Hyuga Miyu's.
One was a pitiful orphan pretending to be strong, while the other had been raised from childhood to be a clan leader.
In terms of cunning and depth, Hyuga Miyu was far superior.
Setting aside combat ability,
Uchiha Yuki was like a tender little cabbage in comparison.
Wakama, however, maintained a serious expression as he said, "It's simple. Meet me at the Naka River every seven days. During that time, I'll treat you the same way I treated her. Don't worry we're still young, so nothing too intimate will happen."
"All you need to do during these meetings is sit with me and have tea. You don't need to make me laugh or talk to me. Just sit there quietly."
Wakama needed to stagger the timing. He and Hyuga Miyu had previously met on the first and fifteenth of each month.
Hyuga Miyu's current silence was without reason, but there was no telling if, after some time, she might return on her own once she realized Wakama hadn't sought her out.
So, Wakama left that time open for her.
And he would pour the rest of his attention into Uchiha Yuki.
Uchiha Yuki's face showed confusion as she asked, "What's the point of this?"
Nothing inappropriate would happen it was just having tea with someone.
How could that help him move on?
Uchiha Yuki couldn't understand.
"There is a point. It's about transferring the love I had for her to you," Wakama said matter-of-factly. "That way, when I think of her again, the pain will fade."
