Chapter 063: Sweet Poison

Chapter 063: Sweet Poison

After confiscating the weapons, since they had changed clothes, it was only natural to freshen up a bit.

What Wakama Senju said to Uchiha Yuki wasn't exactly a lie.

The little mouse, Murien, would keep watch for Wakama.

But if it were his second brother, Tobirama Senju, who showed up...

If Tobirama saw the "girl" Wakama was courting, not only was she of the same gender, but she was also from the Uchiha clan

Wakama didn't even need to think about it. He knew exactly what kind of brutal combo he'd be in for.

Although Wakama wasn't afraid of facing his second brother Tobirama, he definitely couldn't beat his younger sister, Tsukuyo.

Ever since Uchiha Madara was hunted down by the Hagoromo clan, the relationship between Tobirama and Tsukuyo had inexplicably improved.

Tobirama, that old fox, might not hit Wakama himself, but he could always call Tsukuyo over to do the job.

To avoid trouble, Wakama demanded that Uchiha Yuki revert to her female form whenever she was around him.

She was even wearing Senju clan attire.

Even if Tobirama saw her, he would likely turn a blind eye.

Courting a girl? It wasn't his first time. As long as it was a girl and the atmosphere was harmonious, there'd be no problem.

The Uchiha clan's hair was notoriously unruly, and Yuki's locks covered most of her face.

This wouldn't do!

Wakama took out a lightly scented hair oil and smoothed Yuki's hair, making it sleek and shiny. Then, he began to dress her up.

Girls love to look pretty, so Wakama tied her hair into a simple style and pinned a brightly colored wildflower into it.

Next, he decided to practice his makeup skills using Yuki as his canvas...

Before long, under Wakama's meticulous efforts, Yuki had transformed into a beautiful and dignified young woman.

Once he was done, Wakama sat across from her, set up the tea set, and began boiling water to brew tea.

From start to finish, Wakama didn't exchange many words with Yuki.

Yuki held a hand mirror, staring at her reflection as if trying to memorize her current appearance.

But she didn't lose herself in her own beauty. Instead, she found herself increasingly drawn to Wakama as he prepared the tea.

Wakama's tea-making movements were quite different from the aristocratic tea ceremonies, yet they were so elegant that they were utterly captivating.

Yuki couldn't help but think that if the "girl" Wakama had mentioned earlier wasn't just a figment of his imagination, and if there hadn't been any conflict between them, that girl would never have let him go.

Yuki was born in Tanzaku Street. Though her abilities weren't particularly strong, she had a keen understanding of many things.

To keep herself grounded, Yuki looked at Wakama seriously and said, somewhat dampening the mood, "You used to treat that girl the same way, didn't you?"

His care, his love... it was all meant for someone else.

This was the first time Yuki had been treated so tenderly, and it felt like she was tasting sweet poison.

This was only their first meeting. What would happen next?

The second time... the third time...

When Wakama finally moved on from his so-called shadows and sorrows, how would Yuki handle herself?

When Wakama no longer needed her to forget the previous girl, would they part ways amicably?

Perhaps they'd still be friends.

But... she was an Uchiha.

They had no future, and it was pointless to think about an impossible future.

Wanting to preserve this fleeting beauty was nothing but a pipe dream.

To first fulfill a dream she thought she'd never achieve in her lifetime, only to have it cruelly taken away what a harsh reality!

Wakama's tea-making didn't stop. He nodded and said, "I would find ways to give her expensive clothes, skincare products, and other novelties. I'd comb her hair, apply different makeup for her..."

Of course...

Yuki's heart ached, but she showed no sign of it on her face. She whispered, "From the perspective of that girl, I don't think she betrayed you. It's more likely that something happened, preventing her from meeting you. Don't you want to investigate what happened? Maybe she's been waiting for you to save her..."

At these words, Wakama's hands paused for a moment.

Though it was just a brief hesitation, Yuki, with her sharp eyes, caught it.

Wakama set down the teapot and poured the brewed tea into a cup, filling it to about three-quarters full.

He pushed the cup toward Yuki.

"I can't..." Wakama sighed, putting on a show.

What had happened to Hyuga Miyu that she couldn't come?

Wakama already knew.

Unable to bear the feeling of being in the dark and unable to control the situation, he had gone to his sister Tsukuyo for help.

Tsukuyo, who could command armies of birds and communicate with animals and plants, easily found out about Miyu's current predicament.

Through Tsukuyo, Wakama learned that Miyu's secret had been exposed.

Because of that strange letter he had sent, requesting an alliance between the Hyuga and Senju clans, Hyuga Toshimori had suddenly undergone a drastic change in personality.

Or perhaps it wasn't a change in personality, but rather a flare-up of paranoia.

Toshimori had discovered what had happened after Miyu ran away from home and had placed her under house arrest.

When Wakama first learned of this, he felt a pang of guilt. He thought Miyu must be desperately hoping for him to rescue her from her plight.

But Wakama wasn't some naive young man. He asked Tsukuyo for her opinion.

Tsukuyo countered by asking Wakama how he planned to save Miyu.

By slaughtering the entire Hyuga clan?

Or by sneaking into the Hyuga compound and stealing her away?

These questions left Wakama speechless.

Killing the girl's entire family and then telling her, "I did this because I love you" wasn't that just insane?

And as for sneaking into the heart of the Hyuga territory, a place teeming with Byakugan users, to steal a living person... the difficulty was too high, and the success rate too low.

Besides, what kind of relationship did Wakama and Miyu even have now?

What right did he have to meddle in the conflict between Miyu and her family?

Miyu wasn't just anyone she was a Hyuga.

It was Miyu herself who had chosen to return to the Hyuga clan.

Even if Wakama managed to sneak her out temporarily, she would likely, with her strong will, return on her own. This had happened before.

Miyu had chosen her path, and she would walk it, even if it meant crawling on her knees.

She had accepted the constraints of the Caged Bird Seal, and that wasn't a problem Wakama could solve at least not yet.

If Miyu couldn't even handle her own family, bringing her back to the Senju clan would only lead to endless trouble.

Tsukuyo wouldn't allow her brother to marry a fool.

Because fools, with their foolishness, could unknowingly lead the Senju clan to ruin.

Miyu had to resolve her current predicament on her own.

In the end, their feelings for each other weren't deep enough for Wakama to throw everything away for her.
