The Night of the Show

Friday night came faster than I expected, and the butterflies in my stomach were relentless.

I had spent the entire afternoon getting ready, trying on different outfits, and pretending I wasn't nervous.

But it didn't matter how many times I checked my hair or my phone. I was still going to be me tonight, for better or worse.

And tonight, I had a plan. A plan to finally make my move.

The Spot

When I walked into The Spot, it was alive with energy. The music was loud, and people were already crowding the floor, getting ready for the show.

And there she was—Emma, standing by the stage, looking effortless in a black jacket and skinny jeans. She smiled when she saw me walk in, her eyes lighting up.

"Hey, you made it," she said, her voice nearly drowned out by the music.

I nodded, taking in the scene around us. "Wouldn't miss it for the world."

She grinned, glancing around. "You want a drink?"

I shook my head. "I'm good. Just here for the music."

We found a spot near the stage, close enough to feel the vibrations from the speakers but far enough to talk without yelling.

As we settled in, I couldn't help but notice how comfortable we were together now. No awkward silences. No tension. Just us.

The band started playing, and the crowd erupted into cheers. Emma leaned into me as the music got louder.

And in that moment, I realized—this was it. This was the moment I had been waiting for.

The Words I Should Have Said Sooner

As the music continued, Emma caught my eye. There was something in the way she looked at me that made my heart race.

I could feel it then—the weight of everything unspoken between us.

I leaned in, hoping my voice wouldn't shake. "Emma…"

She looked at me, waiting.

"Look, I know we've been doing this thing where we pretend we're just friends… but it's not really working for me."

Her brow furrowed, and I could feel my nerves ramping up. I couldn't back out now. "I like you. More than just as a friend. And I don't want to mess this up by not saying it."

There it was.

The words I had been too scared to say for weeks.

Emma blinked, clearly surprised. She glanced down at her feet for a moment, then back at me, as if searching my face for any sign that I was joking.

"I'm not… I'm not messing with you, Emma," I added quickly. "I've wanted to say this for a while."

She looked at me, and for a split second, I thought she might laugh it off or brush me off completely. But instead, she took a breath and nodded slowly.

"I like you too, Jake."

And just like that, everything shifted.

We stood there, surrounded by the noise of the crowd and the band playing, but for a moment, everything went quiet.

She smiled. "I'm glad you said it."

I grinned back, feeling like the weight of the world had lifted off my shoulders.

This was really happening.

Leo and Matt's Reaction (via Text)

After the show, I was riding on cloud nine. It felt unreal—like something out of a movie. I couldn't wait to tell Leo and Matt.

Me: I did it. It's official. She likes me too.

Leo's reply was almost immediate.

Leo: Dude, FINALLY. About time you got your act together.

Matt's message was next.

Matt: I told you, bro. You'r

e welcome.

I couldn't stop smiling.

Maybe things had finally fallen into place.
