A blinding light enveloped Elara and Kael as they passed through the gate. For a moment it felt like their body was being pulled in all directions, as if they were weightlessly trapped in nothingness.
Then – a sudden impact.
Elara landed on solid ground. When she opened her eyes, an endless, strange landscape stretched before her.
A sky that glowed in dark purple. Black mountains rose in the air, while in the distance silver towers glowed.
Kael groaned up. "Where... are we?"
Elara slowly got up. She immediately felt that something was different.
Their magic reacted to this place. The darkness in her pulsed, but also the light shimmered more than before.
"This is not a normal world," she murmured.
The Kingdom of the Forgotten
Suddenly a deep voice sounded.
"Welcome to the Kingdom of the Forgotten."
Elara and Kael whirled around - and saw a man standing in front of them in a long coat. His face was covered by a mask with ancient symbols shining on.
"Who are you?" Kael asked suspiciously.
The stranger stepped closer. "I am the guardian of this world. And you... are the first to enter this place in centuries."
Elara felt a tingling sensation on her neck.
"Why are we here?"
The guardian stopped. "Because your choice changed the balance."
He raised a hand - and a huge altar rose from the ground.
On him was an old book.
"This book contains the knowledge of those who came before you. Those who tried to unite light and darkness."
Elara stepped closer cautiously.
She put a hand on the book - and at that moment a wave of pure energy ran through her body.
Memories that weren't theirs.
Wars.
Gods who fell.
Heroes who were destroyed.
And in the end...
...A single person who survived both.
Elara tore her hand back. Her heart was pounding.
Kael looked at her worriedly. "What did you see?"
She was breathing heavily.
"This is more than a test.
She turned to the guardian.
"This is a second chance."
The real test begins
The guardian nodded slowly.
"You will soon understand that your path will be even more difficult than you think."
Behind him, the sky began to darken.
Something woke up.
Something that had slept for centuries.
