CHAPTER 35 – THE COLLISION OF LIGHT AND SHADOW

Kael jumped off the wall and landed with an elegance that stood in stark contrast to the destruction around him. General Alden, tall and surrounded by an almost divine presence, slowly stepped forward. His golden armor sparkled in the moonlight, and his spear seemed to pierce the darkness itself.

"I've heard stories about you, shadow-bound," Alden said in a calm but unshakable voice. "A demon, a curse in this world. But I only see a man who is consumed by his own hatred."

Kael laughed softly. "And I see a man who believes that the light is above all else. But tell me, General, what happens when the light is engurred by the darkness?

Without warning, Kael moved. The shadows shot out of the ground, whipping at Alden like living spears. But the general pulled up his spear, and a golden flash of light tore the darkness.

A breathtaking battle broke out. Kael let shadow claws rush out of his hands, teleported between the shadows and attacked from all directions. But Alden countered with light barriers and devastating spears that smashed entire stone columns. Each of their thrusts made the battlefield tremble.

Lysara watched from a distance. "That's... unbelievable," she murmured.

Then, with a lightning-fast movement, Alden pushed the spear directly at Kael's chest - only to hit the void. Kael appeared behind him, his hand crossed by pure darkness, ready to tear life out of Alden's body.

But at that very moment something changed. The sky above them opened up - and a new power stepped onto the battlefield.
