Attacked

Helena groaned as she felt her body ache from the impact.

"Rebecca!" she heard Romeo call out as she was pulled back from whatever haze she'd gone into.

Rebecca, their little sister, was seated in the back seat when whatever came at them sent their car flipping through the woods.

"Rebecca," Helena gasped as she tore through the seatbelt. Luckily, she managed to grab on before she could fall to the ground.

The car was on its side with Helena's window broken. Helena could hear the glass crunch as she stepped on it.

"Is Rebecca safe?" she managed to ask.

Romeo had crawled into the backseat before Helena could free herself.

"I'm fine," Rebecca coughed.

"Just a few scrapes, already healing," Romeo assured Helena.

Helena tried reaching out to her stepfather through the pack link, but he seemed to have blocked everyone out.

"Can't get to dad," she called out as she looked around the car.

Helena pulled out her phone and quickly dialed Rae's number. Rae's phone rang, but her stepsister wasn't picking up.

"Rae's not answering her phone," Helena shouted as she started to climb up the seats. "I'll try to get us out."

Helena tapped on the door to see if she could break through it, unfortunately, Romeo's car seemed to have been made of reinforced metal. The same metal that probably saved them.

Her only option now was to break the window and for them to pull themselves out of that.

'It'll hurt,' Hera said as she realized what Helena was planning.

'Rebecca can't heal as fast yet,' Helena said as she glanced at her sister, who Romeo was comforting.

"Cover, Rebecca, I'm gonna break the window," Helena called out as she tapped the glass.

Romeo nodded and covered their sister.

"I can take it!" Rebecca complained, but both Romeo and Helena didn't give her the chance to even try.

As soon as Romeo shielded Rebecca with his body, Helena made her move, breaking through the glass.

"I got through to Rae," Romeo said as Helena scraped what was left from the window. "She's on her way."

"Good," Helena said as she lifted herself out without bothering to look back.

"Helena!" Romeo shouted as soon as she was out.

"I'm just checking if there's any danger out here," Helena explained as she sniffed the air and scanned the forest.

'Wolves,' Hera hissed.

'They aren't from Black Moon or Stonehill,' Helena added. 'There's something else.'

'None of them are near,' Hera added.

"That's exactly why you shouldn't just jump out there!" Romeo said from inside the car. "What if someone attacks?"

"It's clear," Helena called back.

"I'll boost Becca out, you help her," Romeo said.

It didn't take long for both Rebecca and Romeo to get out of the car through the narrow window. Both of them looked fine, with a few scrapes on them.

"Helena, your hands!" Rebecca gasped as she saw the blood.

"You foolish woman," Romeo hissed as he took Helena's hands in his while he inspected it.

"It's already healing," Helena grumbled.

Romeo just shook his head and took off his shirt.

Helena knew that she should be focusing on other things, like on their surroundings if anyone approached, or on Rebecca if she was hurting, but Helena's attention was drawn toward Romeo's extremely naked torso.

She watched as his muscles moved while he used his shirt to wipe her blood off of her hands.

He was as gentle as his body was hard.

'Enjoying the view?' Romeo teased through their link. 'I can smell your arousal, Helena.'

'It's a good view,' Helena confessed as she felt her cheeks heating up.

Helena's attention was quickly drawn away when she heard wolves running in their direction.

"Romeo," she gasped, pulling away from him.

"Rebecca, stay behind us," Romeo told their sister as they jumped off of the car and moved away from the road.

"Do not try to fight," Helena told Rebecca. "You will have your chance someday, but right now, we need you to be safe."

She didn't see if Rebecca nodded because just as she spoke, five wolves broke through the treeline, all growling at them.

"They belong to a pack," Helena hissed as she tried to catch their scent. "I'm not familiar with them, though."

"What are packed wolves doing attacking Black Moon?" Romeo asked out loud as the wolves lunged at them.

Helena managed to throw one to the side while she went down with another.

She stole a glance at Rebecca, who stood firmly where she and Romeo had placed her.

To her side, Romeo had already killed one wolf while another was getting up after being slammed against a tree.

Helena knew they wouldn't be able to fight properly as long as Rebecca was there.

With every punch she threw or took, she would look back to see if Rebecca was safe. It was the same thing for Romeo, he was distracted.

Romeo had killed the second wolf when a car came speeding through the road from the direction of Black Moon's pack house.

In the driver's seat was Rae, but she was alone.

"They're on their way," Rae said as she jumped out of her car, ready to fight.

Helena was faced with a decision: ask Rae to fight or ask her to take Rebecca back.

"Take her home!" Romeo shouted as another five wolves appeared, all hell-bent on harming the Alpha. "Helena and I can handle this."

Rae hesitated, but in the end, she gave her brother a nod.

She quickly picked Rebecca up and ran to the Jeep.

Helena watched as a pair of wolves appeared, this time closer to Rae and Rebecca.

She didn't have to think twice. She ran and took down the two wolves, killing one instantly while holding down the other.

"Drive!" she shouted at her stepsister. "Get Rebecca out of here! They'll target her to get to us!"

Rae didn't need to be told twice, she stepped on the gas as soon as they got inside.

Just as the Jeep sped up, Helena felt someone slam against her as she was pinned to the ground.

"Helena!" she heard Romeo shout.

"Becca's out, Rae got her out," Helena told Romeo as she struggled against her assailant's hold.
