He is high

'This feeling...'

Kian was currently unaware of the furious COE officer Sashar and the threats she was imposing. Right now, he was too consumed in this strange feeling that was circulating around his entire body. The feeling of becoming an evolver.

'So that weirdo wasn't lying, he really did make me an evolver.'

Inside the pulsing silver light, an almost unrecognisable boy was still lying on the cold wooden floor boards, his eyes closed and his body fidgeting. Suddenly, his lips began to twitch uncontrollably and his once expressionless face molded into a manic grin, similar to the face the COE officer made before cutting his throat.

'This feels... fucking amazing!'

His eyes shot open. His silver irises were glowing with an undisciplined light and his pupils were dilated.

Because of the sudden influx of power and energy, those who become evolvers later in their life experience a feeling comparable to that of being high when evolving. Their thoughts become consumed by this blissful feeling of power and their actions are usually rash and impulsive. In Kian's case, because his power was forcefully awoken by Rohan's immense power, the potency of the symptoms was drastically increased. It was practically like giving somebody who is already in a highly stressful situation an adrenaline shot.

Kian's body shook, his hands and feet were twitching as the intoxicating feeling of power overflowed through him. The rigid floor underneath him cracked slightly under the sheer energy released from his evolving form. His breath came out uneven and sharp, like a beast tasting liberation for the very first time.

The nearby COE officer, Sashar, halted her attack and instinctively took a step back from the boy, the 7 daggers floating around her hummed closer to her form, seemingly acting like a shield around her. Sashar, furious as she was, wavered for a fraction of a second, her intuitions were crying out to her that something was extremely wrong.

'This level of power is seriously not normal. I'm a goddamn C-Class Rank 5 yet my attack couldn't hit him.' Her once prideful and rage-filled thoughts, while still present, were over-shined by the feeling of caution.

'The amount of energy radiating from him is insane. Without a doubt, this rat is somehow A-Class... or higher.' She took a deep breath, reminding herself of who she was, and took a step forward and lifted her daggers into the air.

"This is too bad kid. If only you were born to a powerful family instead of your traitor father. You really could have been something special. But alas, the COE doesn't want a rat like you dirtying the COE, no matter how strong you could be."

Consumed by the sensational feeling coursing through his body, Sahshar's remarks did not register to him. Kian's grin broadened as he unhurriedly sat up, his mesmerising silver eyes were shimmering. He could hear his own heartbeat, loud and rhythmic, it was synced with the now shrinking glow that was radiating off his body. Every nerve in his body was brimming with a ridiculous vitality and every fiber of his being felt amplified beyond human comprehension.

A familiar voice tore through his almost entranced-like high like a flaming spear cutting through flesh.

"Check check. Rohan to Kian. Can you hear me? Over. AHAHAHAHA!" The voice and laugh of the strange man echoed in his head.

"Ahhhhh... It's 'the creepy strange eyed skinny tall guy'. I don't know how you did this man but this feels incredible." He said telepathically as his grin widened.

Another small chuckle escaped from 'the creepy strange eyed skinny tall guy's' mouth "As much as this makes me laugh kid, you really do need to focus on that COE officer in front of you right now. That little boost I gave you is only going to temporarily increase your rank and power so you should be able to beat her but you need to try and control yourself first."

"Control? Why the hell would I want to control this? For the first time in my life, I feel goddamn untouchable." He clenched his fists and watched in awe, his manic smile still etched onto his face, as pure, unrefined energy emerged out from his hands.

"Jeeperz creeperz you are being terribly infuriating... Look kiddo, all I am going to say is you are not going to feel very untouchable once the effect wears off. Try to end this quickly before that happe-", Rohan stopped mid-sentence, halted briefly after inspecting the COE officer in front of Kian, and then warned him. "Lock in, she's about to attack."

"Advanced Telekinesis: Form 3 - Destructive Propel!"

7 daggers charged through the air like vultures locking onto their prey which was in the form of the motionless Kian. Sashar roared, "DIE SCUM!" as she raised her arm with her palm open, facing the direction of Kian, propelling the daggers even faster in the air.

Kian's head tilted slightly with a perplexed look on his face as his eyes locked onto her. The same woman who had moments ago been like an untouchable force of nature in his perspective, now stood before him, barking her threats as if he were still just some powerless, frightened kid. His grin subsided as he stared at her coldly with hints of confusion lased on his expression.

The daggers got closer and closer until they were mere feet away. they were progressing at such a high speed that no ordinary human could have perceived their swiftness.

"KID WHAT ARE YOU DOING? DODGE IT!" Despite Rohan's warnings, Kian did not move. He did not even blink. That same cold expression stayed on his face as he maintained eye contact with the COE officer. The daggers came inches away from him, then centimeters, then millimeters.

Suddenly, Kian seemed to murmur words he did not know. He did not know how he knew what to say or do in this situation, but it seemed as if this knowledge was engraved into his very soul.

"Refractis Sovereign: Form 2 - Reflective Rebuttal."

BOOM!

An explosion erupted upon impact with Kian due to the speed at which the daggers collided with him. It caused the majority of the apartment to be incinerated and the surrounding area to be damaged along with it.

The sound of Rohan echoed in Kian's mind. "...Ha...Hahaha...AHAHAHAHA! Kid you are fucking fantastic. Your ability has truly exceeded my expectations"

Unharmed, Sashar glanced around at the aftermath of the blast. Her prior rage-filled face was substituted by a grin that seemed like the very concept of arrogance and vanity. "The COE truly is unlucky sometimes. So much potential squandered in a scum. In this world, potential is paramount, but it withers in comparison to one's background and experience." After what happened before, when she believed she had slaughtered the boy, only to find out he survied, she was not taking any chances again. The daggers returned to her and she began to step towards The center of the explosion, which was still obscured by dust and smoke, to confirm Kian's demise.

As she was walking, pain suddenly engulfed her entire body and she dropped to one knee. Out of nowhere, 7 deep lacerations and gashes appeared on her body. Two on her left leg, one on each arm, two around her stomach, and one in her eye.

"ARGHHH!" She shrieked in despair at the top of her lungs. She clutched her eye with her left hand and covered one of the gashes on her stomach with the other. She clenched her jaw, almost hard enough to shatter her teeth. Her entire body was shaking in pain as she raised her head and with her remaining eye, scowled in the direction of the explosion.

The dust had settled and the smoke had dissipated in the air. The only thing still present was a boy, his clothes ruined and charred but his body completely unharmed. Despite his age and therefore size, he stood tall and powerful. His expression was neutral as he looked around at his surroundings.

"YOU! What did you do to me you ra-"

"Ah, I remember now." He cut her off and glared at her. "This feeling of rage and hatred deep inside me. I couldn't remember what it was or why I was feeling it but I see it now."

He began to walk forward unhurriedly in the direction of the bloody and battered COE officer. "This place is my home. Where my sister would cook and care for me. My sister... she was the only thing in this world I truely cared about and you..." He halted his walk towards her, now only meters away from her, as his glare became heartless. His hands clenched as he continued "You took her from me."

He bent down and picked up one of Sahar's daggers that she had dropped because of her wounds. He fumbled with the dagger in his palm, trying to find a suitable grip, mirroring his lack of experience holding a weapon. He resumed his walk towards her, dagger at his side,

He stepped over scorched pieces of wood and metal shrapnel and reached her feet. Still shaking in pain, Sashar stared back at him with her remaining eye, matching his hostility and anger. Kian stared down at her and pointed the dagger at her throat.

"I am only going to ask this once, so listen carefully. Where. Is. My. Sister."
