Chapter 36: Sarutobi Hiruzen’s Visit

During this past week, Sun Eevee had made significant progress.

After Kurenai Yuhi and her team adopted Pokémon last time, Ryo had received a treasure chest. The mysterious fruits from it had all been eaten by Sun Eevee.

In addition, with the five mysterious fruits harvested every week, Sun Eevee had consumed another 15 fruits in total.

Originally at level 29, Sun Eevee quickly advanced to level 44 after eating these fruits.

Combined with the physical training during this time, it gained an additional two levels, bringing it to level 46.

This was exactly why Sun Eevee had started to lose motivation for training.

After all, a week of training only brought two levels, whereas eating a few fruits gave a whopping 15 levels.

Given the comparison, who would want to stick to hard training?

On the other hand, Dragonite remained at level 90, showing no signs of breaking through.

Ryo wasn't surprised or confused by this.

Breaking from level 90 to 91 was a massive leap—it meant transitioning from the peak Kage level to the Super Kage level.

He fully understood the difficulty involved.

Even if it took one or two years, Ryo wouldn't find it strange at all.

The higher the level, the harder it was to break through. This was evident even from observing Sun Eevee.

Naruto's team's Pokémon could gain nearly ten levels in just a week.

But Sun Eevee had only managed to level up twice, making the gap quite obvious.

And if this was the case for Sun Eevee, it was even more understandable for Dragonite at level 90.

Carrying the energy cubes, Ryo returned to the backyard.

Dragonite and Sun Eevee had already gathered all the Pokémon.

The open space became a bustling scene, with the Pokémon happily greeting Ryo.

Ryo felt a headache coming on. "Alright, everyone, quiet down."

He couldn't help but dread the future. Right now, there were only about a dozen Pokémon, and it was already this noisy.

What would happen when there were more Pokémon in the future?

With the help of Dragonite and Sun Eevee, the Pokémon received their energy cubes and began munching happily.

"Dragonite, Sun Eevee, you've worked hard. Here, these are for you."

Ryo handed out the high-grade energy cubes and the special-grade ones to the two Pokémon.

"Roar~"

"Eevee~"

Dragonite and Sun Eevee shook their heads, took the energy cubes, and started eating.

Seeing this, Ryo took out his own meal and ate with them.

The lunch break passed quickly.

After eating, the Pokémon headed back into the forest.

Dragonite and Sun Eevee resumed their training.

Ryo returned to the cabin, sat on the sofa, and began meditating.

It served as both a nap and a training method.

He didn't know how much time had passed when he opened his eyes, sensing something unusual. His gaze shifted toward the door, his brow slightly furrowed.

Whoosh—

The next second, Dragonite and Sun Eevee appeared in the cabin, their eyes alert as they stared outside.

Ryo could sense a powerful chakra approaching from outside.

The amount of chakra far surpassed that of Kakashi and others.

Dragonite and Sun Eevee had also noticed it, so they paused their training and rushed to his side.

Tap, tap, tap...

The sound of footsteps grew closer. An old man with a kind face and a smile walked into the cabin.

The moment his eyes landed on Dragonite, his smile froze for a brief second, a flash of surprise in his gaze.

He quickly recovered and turned to Ryo. "Boss."

Ryo was taken aback. The man in front of him was none other than the Third Hokage of Konoha, Sarutobi Hiruzen.

No wonder his chakra was so immense.

Even though Sarutobi Hiruzen was old and his strength had declined significantly, he was still at Kage level—a veteran Kage at that.

Ryo smiled. "Third Hokage, it's truly an honor to have you visit my humble shop."

"You're too kind, Boss."

Sarutobi Hiruzen smiled and waved his hand. "I wanted to come a few days ago, but I got held up by some matters."

"Understandable. You're the Hokage, after all. It's normal to be busy every day," Ryo replied with a smile, though inwardly, he couldn't help but sneer.

Busy? What could you possibly be busy with? Watching others bathe? Plotting against people? You've never done a single proper thing, and yet you claim to be busy?

Sarutobi Hiruzen had no idea what Ryo was thinking. He nodded and continued, "Boss, I heard that you have some creatures here called Pokémon. Could I have a look?"

"Of course," Ryo said, pulling out a Poké Ball and handing it to Sarutobi Hiruzen.

Sarutobi Hiruzen recognized the Poké Ball and reached out to take it, thanking him as he did. "Thank you, Boss."

But before he could take it, Ryo retracted his hand with a smile. "Third Hokage, each Poké Ball costs 2,000 ryo."

Sarutobi Hiruzen froze for a moment. If not for his excellent control over his facial expressions, his face might have fallen right then and there.

What the heck? I'm the Hokage! Do you really think 2,000 ryo matters to me?

You could've just handed it to me and taken the money later. Did you really have to make it so awkward?

"Boss, I understand, I understand."

Looking slightly awkward, Sarutobi Hiruzen spoke while pulling out his wallet.

Inwardly, he felt a sense of relief—thank goodness he had come alone without bringing anyone else.

Otherwise, that earlier scene might have completely ruined his image.

Ryo didn't care what Sarutobi Hiruzen was thinking. As soon as Sarutobi handed over the money, Ryo took it without hesitation and handed the Poké Ball back to him.

In Ryo's mind, granting Sarutobi Hiruzen the privilege of owning a Pokémon was already a generous act.

If it weren't for the fact that Sarutobi was a key character in the plot, Ryo wouldn't have even considered giving him a Pokémon.

So even though he was well aware of Sarutobi's feelings, Ryo didn't plan to accommodate him.

"Alright, Third Hokage. With the Poké Ball, you can head to the back mountain and try to catch a Pokémon. Just remember one thing—you can't force them to leave with you."

"Roar~"

Dragonite nodded in agreement, turning to give Sarutobi Hiruzen a serious look.

Sarutobi smiled, sensing Dragonite's powerful presence. "Boss, don't worry. I understand."

Ryo didn't say much more. He turned to Dragonite and instructed, "Dragonite, could you please guide the Third Hokage to the back mountain?"

He then looked back at Sarutobi. "Just follow Dragonite, and he'll take you there."

Sarutobi Hiruzen nodded once again. "Alright, thank you, Dragonite."

"Roar~"

Dragonite shook its head and began walking toward the backyard.

Sarutobi Hiruzen gave Ryo a respectful nod and followed Dragonite.
