The Rise of the Moon's Chosen
Chapter 20: The Summoning
The warrior's frantic breathing filled the room. His eyes were wide, his body tense—something was terribly wrong.
Marcos forced himself to his feet despite the burning pain in his chest. The mark of Tenebris pulsed, its heat radiating through his veins like wildfire.
Astrid stepped closer, her violet eyes narrowing. "What happened?"
The warrior gulped, still catching his breath. "It's the sky."
Marcos and Astrid exchanged a look before rushing out of the infirmary.
The moment Marcos stepped into the open air, his blood turned ice.
Above them, the sky was cracked.
Dark, jagged veins of shadow slithered across the heavens, like a shattered mirror. The crescent moon, once a beacon of light, bled red.
Gasps and whispers filled the clearing as warriors and elders alike stared at the sky in horror.
"It's an omen…" one of the elders whispered.
"A curse," another muttered.
Marcos' chest tightened. He had seen this before.
In the abyss. In his vision.
This was Tenebris.
Astrid's fingers curled around his arm. "This started the moment you woke up." Her voice was careful, but there was no mistaking the underlying fear.
Marcos clenched his fists. "This isn't just an omen." His mark flared hotter. "This is a summons."

The Voice from the Void
As if answering his words, a voice slithered through the air.
Low. Ancient. Familiar.
"Come to me, Lunar's Chosen."
Marcos staggered back. The voice wasn't heard—it was felt. It seeped into his mind, wrapping around his bones.
"The time has come to embrace your fate."
His breath quickened. The warriors around him murmured in confusion, but he knew—they couldn't hear it.
Only he could.
Because this was for him.
Astrid noticed his expression and grabbed his shoulders. "Marcos, what is it?"
He swallowed hard. Should he tell them?
Would they trust him?
Would they fear him?
The mark burned again, and for a moment, the world around him flickered.
The sky darkened. The voices around him drowned in silence.
And standing before him, bathed in living shadows, was Tenebris himself.
A towering figure with burning red eyes.
Waiting. Watching. Smiling.
"Come," Tenebris whispered. "Or I will bring the abyss to you."
Marcos' heart pounded. He had no choice.
He had to go.
But the question was…
Would he return?
