Whispers of the Obsidian Veil

Kael moved through the shadows, his steps silent as he navigated the outskirts of Vaelstrom. He had spent years learning its hidden paths—the narrow alleys, the underground tunnels, the forgotten ruins beneath the city.

But tonight, he wasn't hunting. He was searching for the truth.

The Nightfall Syndicate had betrayed him. Why?

His newfound powers… What were they?

The answers lay within the Obsidian Veil—a secretive faction that dealt in forbidden knowledge. Rumors whispered of assassins, mages, and exiles who had vanished from history, only to resurface under their banner.

And if anyone knew the truth about his abilities, it would be them.

A City Beneath the City

Following the rumors, Kael found himself at the entrance of an ancient crypt beneath the ruined district. The door was marked with an obsidian sigil—a symbol of the Veil.

Two cloaked figures guarded the entrance, their faces hidden behind intricate masks.

Kael stepped forward, his voice low. "I seek the truth hidden in the dark."

One of the guards tilted their head, assessing him. After a long pause, they stepped aside. No words. No questions.

Kael descended into the depths.

The air grew heavy with the scent of old parchment, burning incense, and something else—power.

At the heart of the chamber stood a massive circular library, its walls lined with scrolls and artifacts. Hooded scholars moved silently, while warriors in dark armor trained in the shadows.

At the center of it all sat an elder in black robes, his piercing silver eyes meeting Kael's without hesitation.

"You are not the first assassin to come seeking answers," the elder said. His voice was calm, but laced with knowledge. "But you… you are different."

Kael clenched his fists. "Tell me what's happening to me."

The elder gestured toward an ancient tome bound in dark leather. Symbols Kael had never seen before glowed faintly on its cover.

"Your abilities are not a curse, Kael Veyne," the elder said. "They are a key to something far greater."

Kael narrowed his eyes. A key… to what?

The elder smirked. "That… depends on whether you are willing to embrace what you've become."
