Finding My Rhythm

One day went by, and Viona felt increasingly trapped in confusion and difficulty. She couldn't sleep well, her mind constantly swirling around her decision to choose music as her major and her relationship with Steve. She felt scared and sad, unsure of what to do.

At school, Viona couldn't focus on her studies. She felt like she was walking in a dream, unable to keep up with classes and unable to understand what her teachers were saying. She felt embarrassed and sad, not knowing how to face her friends, who seemed to have none of these issues.

But what scared Viona the most was Steve. She feared that Steve would acknowledge that the woman was his girlfriend, and she didn't know how to face that reality. She felt unprepared to hear that Steve had a girlfriend, unprepared to deal with the pressure and expectations that came with it.

But if Steve was lying, Viona thought it would be even more painful. She had seen with her own eyes how Steve interacted with the woman, how he smiled and laughed with her. Viona felt that she couldn't trust Steve, couldn't believe that he really liked someone else.

Viona felt like she was trapped in a bad mood. She didn't know what to do, didn't know how to face the difficulties in her life. All she could do was hope that one day she would find answers to her questions and would be able to move on with her life.

That afternoon, Viona walked home from school with a heavy heart. She felt as if she had no purpose, no clear direction. She could only walk, not knowing what lay ahead. But she knew she had to keep going, keep searching for answers to her questions, and keep hoping that one day she would find the happiness she was looking for.

When Viona entered the lesson room, she felt a heaviness in her breath. However, as soon as her eyes met Steve's, a broad smile illuminated his face. His smile seemed to imply that nothing was wrong, as if all the worries and confusion within Viona had never existed.

Viona felt confused. On one hand, Steve's smile brought her some relief, but on the other, it made her feel more pressured. Did Steve really not sense the tension between them? Or maybe he was just pretending?

Steve stood near the piano, opening a new score for their lesson. "Hey, Viona! I'm ready to start our lesson today. This is one of the new songs you're sure to love," he said enthusiastically.

Viona nodded, trying to put on a sincere smile even though her heart was filled with doubt. "Yeah, I'm ready," she responded weakly. She attempted to distract her mind from the worries that burdened her heart and focus on the lesson.

During the lesson, Viona tried to understand the notation on the sheet music in front of them. However, whenever she slowed down, she could feel Steve's gaze watching her, making her increasingly anxious. Is Steve noticing her mistakes? Or was he just concerned about what she would say next?

Before long, as they practiced together, Steve paused for a moment. He looked at Viona with a serious expression. "Viona, I know things have been a bit… strange between us lately. But I want you to know that I really value friends and musicians like you. Nothing has changed, right?"

Those words left Viona speechless. She felt surprised yet relieved. Did this mean Steve felt the same way? Did he have no intention of changing anything between them? "Yes, I value you a lot too, Steve," Viona replied softly.

From that moment on, slowly, Viona began to let go of her fears and refocus on the music again. Over time, she realized that even though their relationship might be complicated, she was not alone. They could still create and learn together, and that was enough to give Viona renewed strength.

The lessons continued, and with each note they played, Viona felt little by little the burden on her heart lifting. Perhaps, while playing music, she could find her answers without being weighed down by expectations. She just needed to give it time, both for herself and for her relationship with Steve.

After reflecting and analyzing everything that had happened, Viona finally made a big decision. She decided to choose the path of medical school. From her conversation with Steve the night before, she concluded that Steve actually viewed her as just a regular friend and nothing more. This decision felt like the right step for her, despite the thousand doubts clinging to her.

When she spoke to her parents, she found full support. "We always believe you can do anything you want, Viona," her mother said warmly. Viona felt a surge of encouragement from her parents, and that gave her the confidence to pursue this plan.

Preparations for medical school began. Viona had to take numerous exams and prepare the necessary documents. It was a long and exhausting process. She had to study more about biology, chemistry, and various other subjects that would form the foundation of her medical education. The piano lessons and practices she once loved had to take a back seat.

Her days were now filled with books and notes. Nearly all her time was consumed with studying and preparing for entrance exams. She began to feel a sense of loss, not just for the time she could have spent practicing piano, but also for the little moments that used to bring her joy. The longing for the piano and music grew stronger, yet the ambition to become a doctor overshadowed that yearning.

Her distancing from the world of music made Viona appreciate every moment she spent with that instrument. In every small opportunity, whenever she could sneak into the music room, she would play the melodies that always soothed her. However, the limited time made her feel stressed. She felt trapped between her dream of becoming a doctor and her love for music.

One afternoon, while taking a deep breath in the study room, Viona found herself daydreaming, reminiscing about all the beautiful memories she had while playing the piano. She felt confused and lost. That moment made her realize that while medical education was important, music also played a significant role in her life.

With renewed determination, Viona decided to find a way to integrate both, even if it would be difficult. She began planning to arrange her study time better so that she could still set aside time for the piano. She wanted to be a doctor who not only focused on science but could also bring beautiful melodies into her life, and perhaps into her medical practice in the future.

In this way, Viona hoped to find a balance between two worlds that were very different yet equally important to her. It might not be easy, but she believed that with dedication and passion, she could make it work. After all, music and medicine had one thing in common – both could heal.

After overcoming various obstacles and challenges, Viona finally graduated and was accepted as a medical student. This news was greeted with joy by her family, and of course, by Steve. When he heard the happy news, Steve couldn't hide his smile. "Congratulations, Viona! I always knew you could do it," he said sincerely, showing the unwavering support he always had for her.

However, behind that happiness, Viona felt an immense weight. With a packed schedule as a medical student, she knew that her time for continuing piano lessons with Steve would be very limited. She didn't want to give half-hearted efforts in either area, and though it was difficult, this decision had to be made.

Her heart felt heavy as she approached Steve during their last practice session. "Steve, I want to talk," she said, taking a deep breath. "I… I will stop taking piano lessons."

Those words left her mouth, but they felt like breaking something very valuable. Steve seemed shocked. "Viona, why? You're so talented! Are you sure this is the right decision?" he asked, filled with concern.

Viona looked into his understanding eyes. "I know this is difficult. Music is a big part of my life. But I have to focus on medical school now. I won't be able to give my best in this new student phase if I divide my time between studies and piano lessons."

Steve nodded, accepting the decision though reluctantly. "I just want what's best for you, Viona. You have big dreams, and nothing is more important than that," he replied, trying to remain calm even though his heart felt tight.

After that last practice session, Viona felt sadness enveloping her. The happiness she felt seemed mixed with a sense of loss. She missed the beautiful moments of playing the piano, especially while sharing experiences with Steve. Yet, she knew this was a sacrifice she had to make for her future.

Over time, Viona immersed herself in the world of medicine. Although she busied herself with lessons and practice, there were times she missed the sound of the piano. Sometimes, when she heard old songs she used to play, tears would roll down her cheeks. She missed the beauty of music, which had always been her escape and source of inspiration.

Even though Viona chose her career, she still cherished all the lessons she learned from Steve and music. From time to time, she would remember Steve's wide smile when they practiced or how music could touch hearts and souls. She also began to realize that life is full of choices, and each choice carries its own consequences. And even though she took a different path, her love and passion for music would never truly fade.

As the end of her first year in medical school approached, Viona decided to sing or play the piano on a few occasions. She knew that music would always be a part of her, even if she couldn't engage with it every day. In this way, she continued her life's journey, hoping that one day, perhaps in a brighter future, she could find a way to combine medicine and music into one beautiful harmony.
