Chapter 17

Camilla

Today was my day off and I was so excited to spend the day with the kids. Britney and her son had gone out to the supermarket to stock up the fridge. She had suggested that i come along with her alongside my twins but I chose to remain at home.

"Mummy, I am so happy you are with us." Mira said running around the house with an excited grin plastered on her face. George on the other hand sat on the couch with his eyes fixated on the sports displaying on the screen.

It was unusal for George to be so quiet. I furrowed my brows in confusion and asked. "Son, are you okay? Did Mira do something to anger you?" I asked. Mira hastily raised her hand in mock surrender whereas George shook his head in disagreement and muttered "i am okay mummy. I am just so focused on the football game."

I nodded my head with a small smile but my eyes never left George for once. His eyes looked tired too and I noticed how he kept placing his hand on his head and removing it afterwards. Was he really okay? What was he not telling me?

"Mummy, can I and George get a cup of tea please?" Mira suddenly asked. She batted her eyelashes at me and gave me a puppy look.

I scoffed, they had already taken their cereal this morning yet Mira was asking for a cup of tea and she was dragging her twin into it as well. I turned to George and he shook his head in disagreement. "I am okay." He said.

I turned back to Mira and she shrug in response. "I guess I will just have both cups to myself." Now she was pulling out the hair of the doll Raymond had gotten for her.

I sighed heavily and rose to my feet, not after telling Mira. "Keep an eye on your twin brother while I bring you the cup of tea your highness." I said jokingly. Mira threw me a salute and joined her twin brother on the couch. She began to pat his head while I just walked out of the sitting room.

I loved the relationship Mira and George shared. They were always there for each other and it made me happy to know that. At least that meant they were not alone, they had each other's backs.

While I was busy preparing the tea, I heard a loud thud which made me scold Mira from the kitchen. "Mira! I know that was you, be careful." I snapped at her. I got no response from the sitting room. Everywhere was suddenly quiet. I dropped the cup of tea and attempted to move to the sitting room to check on the twins but to my uttermost surprise, Mira rushed into the kitchen panting.

Her face was covered in fear and her entire body shivered. It caused my heart to race extremely fast as I asked "What is going on?"

"Mum-my, mu-mmy..." Mira stuttered. She blinked twice and paused to catch her breath. I knew I could no longer be patient to hear what she had to say. I rushed to the sitting room to see for myself and behold, to my uttermost shock. George laid on the ground with blood dripping from his nose.

I screamed loudly and staggered backward in shock at the sight in front of me. Tears rushed down my cheeks as I reached George to check his heartbeat. He was still breathing. Without wasting anymore time, I lifted him bridal style and dashes out of the house with Mira besides me

I hastily placed George in the back seat with his twin sister and then I drove fast to the hospital where I worked. I dialed Britney's number while driving but it kept going to voicemail.

I panicked and drove really rough. I eventually arrived at the hospital. The nurses helped me take George to a room and the doctor asked me to wait in my office with Mira. I offered to help them but they said I was fidgeting so I had to remain in the office.

"Mummy, what happened to George?" Mira's voice was shaky and her breathing was hitched. I hastily wiped the tears off my eyes and pulled her into a hug.

"I do not know baby but George is going to be fine, alright?" I whispered softly into her ears as I carressed her softly.

My phone rang loudly interrupting my moment with Mira. I broke free from our hug and picked up my phone to answer immediately. It was Britney.

"Hey girl, I missed your call. What is up?" She asked. I broke downinto tears and Britney immediately got the hint that something was wrong with me. She continued to throw questions at me. "What is wrong? What happened? Are you okay?"

"Britney, George collapsed." I managed to say amidst my tears.

"What? What do you mean collapsed? Did he fall or something? Where is he now? Where are you guys?" Britney asked, her tone was now laced with worry.

"I do not know Britney, I do not know anything at all. Mira witnessed all of it and I can not ask her about anything right now because she just looks as frightened as I am. We are currently at the hospital where I work. I am waiting to hear from the doctors." I said hastily.

"Okay, do not worry Camilla. Nothing is wrong with George. He is going to be fine, okay?" Britney said in a questioning tone. I nodded my head at her even though I knew she could not see me.

In less than an hour, Britney arrived at the hospital with her son. I was glad to at least have comfort and her son was able to keep Mira distracted while we waited for the doctors.

Two hours later, Doctor Mark barged into my office with a serious look on his face. "Can I see you Doctor Camilla?"
