Camilla
I nodded my head at Doctor Mark. My heart raced extremely fast and my body shook in fear. I turned to gaze at Britney and she flashed me a reassuring smile.
"Mira I would be back soon with your brother okay?" I forced a smile on my face and rubbed Mira's soft hair. She nodded her head at me and continued her discussion with Ben, Britney's son. I averted my gaze back to Britney with a pleading look. "Please watch over Mira for me."
"No problem at all sis. Just go and hear what the doctor has to say. I will be here with the kids, praying to the moon goddess to heal George." Britney said.
I flashed her a grateful smile and made my way out of the office with Doctor Mark at my front. He led me into his office and gestured me to sit down properly on the couch facing his desk. I obeyed him and sat down.
"Everything is going to be okay Camilla. I just wanted to remind you of that." Doctor Mark said. His tone sounded like he was bracing me for the worse. Doctors only said such things like that whenever they were about to drop bad news about the patient. I was a doctor as well so that trick could not be used on me. Although I remained quiet and allowed Doctor Mark to do the talking.
"You are a doctor Camilla so I hope you take this news as gentle as you can. I understand if you flare up a bit." Doctor Mark's warning made me get the hint, I knew George was not okay but I still chose to remain positive. Maybe something miraculous could happen.
"Your son has been diagnosed with leukemia." Doctor Mark blurted out. I ran a hand through my hair in frustration and muttered a cuss under my breath. All the tears I had been holding back poured down my cheeks. I suddenly felt overwhelmed and confused.
"What can be done?" I asked amidst my tears. At that moment, I had forgotten what it felt like to be a doctor. I was the patient now.
"Calm down Camilla, like I said ealier you have absolutely nothing to worry about. There is a way out of all of this. I just need you to listen to me very attentively." Doctor Mark started. I nodded my head frankly and gestured him to go ahead and talk.
"I will do everything you say doctor. Please tell me what I have todo to save my son." I said with pleading eyes.
Doctor Mark sighed heavily. His eyes scanned through something on the screen of his phone as he continued to speak "First of all, George will be admitted into the hospital, all necessary treatments will begin immediately." He said.
I nodded my head and gestured him to continue while I silently prayed to Aethera, the Moon goddess to please save my son from all of this mess.
"But the most important treatment is needing a donor. You know this works Camilla. George will be needing a donor to survive." He said. I sighed heavily. I prayed to the Moon Goddess to send a donor to me. I would do my possible best to find one at all costs.
"How long does he have until he is able to find a donor?" I asked. Doctor Mark cleared his throat, he seemed to be doing some calculation before he replied "Three months. You have three months Camilla. The hospital will help you make an announcement just incase we find a match and the person is willing to help." Doctor Mark replied.
I nodded my head in agreement. "Thank you so much Doctor Mark. Thank you for everything. I would like to see my son now." I said. Doctor Mark nodded his head in agreement. He rose to his feet and led me out of his office.
Doctor Mark accompanied me to George's room while he continued "Take the time off Camilla. You take care of yourself and your daughter. Looking for a donor to match your son will be a really stressful thing but let us hope for the best." He said.
We halted in our steps right in front of Room 308. Doctor Mark rubbed my shoulder before walking away. I made my way into George's room and my heart immediately broke at the sight of him. My son was lying unconsciously on the bed, he looked so helpless and tired.
I rushed towards his bed and broke down into tears. I carressed his forehead softly and prayed to the Moon Goddess for the umpteenth time.
"Aethera, please save my son. I had already been through a lot throughout these years. Please do not take away the blessing you have given to me. I know my children have special abilities but they are too young to harness them. They know nothing about how to use their abilities. Please save them, I will forever be indebted to you." I cried out. My eyes were fixated on the roof.
Sooner than later, Britney walked into the room. I asked her about Mira and Ben and she said they were fast asleep in my office. She joined on the couch with tears rushing down her cheeks as well.
"George is going to be okay. I promise you that. What did the doctors say?" Britney asked.
"He was leukemia Britney. My poor baby boy is suffering from leukemia. What am going to do to save him?" I ask amidst my tears.
"What did the doctors say? There has to be a way out right? There is definitely a way to save George from this. He is not going to die. The Moon Goddess will never take back her gift." Britney said with so much confidence.
Her words reassured me. I believed in the Moon Goddess and i was certain that she was going to do something to save my son's life. She gave them special abilities for a reason, I was sure George had a purpose in life.
