After the encounter with the shadow creature, Elionna and Azrael pressed on toward the temple. The mountains loomed ahead, their jagged peaks shrouded in mist. The sky had grown darker, and Elionna felt a chill run through her veins.
As they approached the foot of the mountains, the air seemed to change, growing colder and thicker. The ground beneath their feet was uneven, and the trees grew sparse, giving way to rocky terrain.
Azrael's expression had hardened. "We are close now. The temple lies just beyond these cliffs."
But Elionna couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong. The shadows in the corners of her vision seemed to grow longer, and every crackling leaf or distant sound made her jump. The further they moved, the stronger the presence of the Dark Star seemed to become.
Suddenly, there was a low growl from behind them. Elionna spun around, her hand instinctively going to the hilt of the Starblade. But before she could react, a massive creature appeared, its eyes glowing with a red, malevolent light. It was larger than the creature they had fought before—its form was like a twisted, hulking shadow, with elongated limbs and claws that scraped the stone beneath it.
Azrael immediately moved into a defensive stance. "Get ready, Elionna. This will be a fight like no other."
The creature roared, its voice a deep, bone-rattling sound. It lunged toward them, and Elionna barely had time to react. The Starblade hummed in her grip, a surge of power coursing through her. She swung it with all her strength, but the creature was fast, and its claws scraped against her arm, sending a searing pain through her.
Azrael stepped in, his sword flashing as he deflected the creature's attack. "Focus, Elionna! You must use your power. Trust the Starblade."
Elionna gritted her teeth and tightened her grip on the blade. She could feel it now—the connection between herself and the sword, a bond that was growing stronger with every fight. "For Lira's Vale," she whispered, and with a fierce cry, she slashed the blade downward, striking the creature's chest.
The creature screamed in agony as the light of the Starblade burned through its shadowy form. It disintegrated into smoke, vanishing into the air like a nightmare fading with the dawn.
Elionna stood panting, her body trembling from the effort. "Is it… gone?"
Azrael nodded, sheathing his sword. "For now. But the Dark Star's reach is long, Elionna. We must hurry to the temple before more creatures are sent after us."
Elionna's heart was still racing, but she nodded. The path ahead was clear, and she knew now that she wasn't alone. The Starblade would guide her—and Azrael would help her unlock her true potential.
