It’s just a normal sleep over right?

I looked at her with a puzzled expression. Sleepover? We haven't done that before.

"Uh- huh?"

"I'm all alone tonight, it's a bit scary sleeping alone you know."

"Uh…we've never done that before." Although Akemi and I were comfortable with each other enough for something like that? Isn't that something only lovers do? I mean close

friends did do it but when they their of opposite sex. Also another problem came to mind

"I don't have any clothes for a sleep over." No way I was sleeping in this smelly shirt full of sweat. Akemi continued to avoid my eyes and fiddle with her feet.

"You can borrow my older brothers clothes, I think they'll fit"

"Wha-, but this is just-"

"If you don't want to it's fine. I-I just thought that maybe…nvmd"

She looked down with a rather disappointed face and turned her back to me. It was suddenly sprang up on me was I was surprised but now that I thought about, I guess it's okay? Akemi never really has sleeped in an empty house has she? Shouldn't I be concerned. Sigh, I guess i will cooperate

"Do you have a sleeping bag?"

Akemi suddenly turned around and finnaly met my eyes. She looked into my brown pupils with her blue ones which had widened.

***

I changed into the clothes she gave me. They did fit but they were a size bigger than what I preferred. Whatever, it's sleep wear so it just doesn't matter. They were normal shorts and a white shirt. She got out a sleeping bag and laid it on the floor beside her bed. I also called my parents and informed them, since they knew Akemi well, they weren't concerned.

"T-thank you for staying with me." She sounded nervous.

"It's fine, we're close friends right? It should be fine for a night"

"Right"

the lights were off and I entered my sleeping bag. So this is how a sleeping bag feels like. I also used tatami mats at sleep overs so this is actually a first for me.

The atmosphere was even quieter than usual. Every movement, every breath felt tangible. The sleeping bag was no where as good as a bad or tatami mat, but oh well,it is what it is.

I constantly shifted my body around hoping to get a comfortable position but was only met with cold fabric.

But I wasn't the only one awake. I could hear Akemi's suddle shifting in bed , her breathing also didn't seem to be normal. It was quicker and deeper.

This really isn't a cozy atmosphere was it. Could either of us sleep like this? I closed my eyes as forced myself to sleep but just as I did I heard a whisper from the bed. It was so soft, as if the whisperer would have preferred not to be heard.

"The sleeping bag isn't good right?" Akemi asked. I turned towards her, I couldn't see her face in the dark but the ghostly outline of her body told me she had her back to me.

"It's cold, I guess" I replied

This time when she spoke her voice was louder and more confident but still maintained it's femininity.

"Would you like to share the bed with me?"

"I…."

What a strange night. Should I be protesting? Should I be uncomfortable sleeping with a girl ? And yet, the only thing that came to my mind was how cold the floor was and how warm the bed would be…infact, maybe the bed felt nicer because she was in it.

Without another word, I slowly got up from the sleeping bag. Akemi went on the opposite side of the bed but still kept her back towards me.

I looked at the spot she just vacated. The shape of her body left a slight impression on the sheets and the large blanket she was using covered the whole bed. If I entered like this, Chances are I would meet her body underneath the blanket.

"Thanks" I muttered.

"Thank you for staying with me tonight" she whispered softly.
