Chapter 5: Domain of Diamonds

Shall I use it?

Carter thought for a moment but then decided against it, the beast seemed like he could handle it on his own.

He readied himself, his eyes determined. The beast jumped on him straight for the face, Carter dodged for a second but then quickly grabbed the the beast by what seemed to be like it's neck and then stabbed it through the stomach with the knife.

However, the beast struggled forcing for Carter to dog more deep into its stomach, but the furball didn't seem to go down without a fight. It opened it's maws and went for a bite at Carters shoulders.

Carter upon this realization quickly pinned the beast to the wall, choking it.

That was dangerous, Carter couldn't help himself from releasing cold sweat.

Squiikk!

The beast screeched as it struggled underneath his fingers, despite the knife on its stomach dug deep and being choked, it was still able to struggle.

Fitting for a beast.

Carter would have never been able to do this without having consumed three two of clubs card enchancing his physical qualities. It greatly improved his physical capabilities and allowed him to do things he had never expected he could do with his previous body.

Carter took out the knife and once again stabbed the beast.

Finally, the beast was dead.

It dropped a card of course, but this time, it was a three of clubs.

Carter's eyes shone, he quickly took the card and read it's skill.

Unlike the Carter, the man whom he had just saved was struck dumb. What had he just witnessed, it was the first he experienced such a thing.

Carter though had already seen this same occurrence four times, he wasn't as shocked as the man as he had already accepted it.

____

Skill: Tough skin

Rank: Three of clubs

Description: Upon usage, the caster would gain great durability temporarily

____

Wow!!

Carter's eyes widened, it was a defensive skill.

___

Consume or Equip?

__

Carter weighed in the option, equipping the item sounded more beneficial, if he could use the skill perfectly in a dangerous situation, his chances of survival upon encountering a strong beast would rise significantly, along with his Enchanced speed skill, he could definitely escape.

With a big grin on his face, "Equip!"

The card disintegrated with all that was left was the symbol of three of clubs of which soon branded itself on his chest.

"He-heyy...what was that?" Carter turned around to see the face of the man whom he had just saved.

But all that he saw was a horrifying bloodied face, it was clear that the scar on his face from beast did a number on him.

"Damn you look scary. You should wipe that off." Carter said without any reserves, he rejust ignored the man's question though, as it was really difficult to explain and then there was still the chances that he wouldn't believe him at all, which was a very high, after all, just imagining himself explain it, it would sound absurd.

The man's brows twitched, he was irritated with how the young man answered him, though really, he shouldn't be, instead he should be thankful since he just saved him.

The man wiped off the blood from his face, constant groans of pain escaped his lips. It was painful for sure, the strict was big and seemed deep enough, from his forehead to his chin.

It was bleeding fast as well.

"You should try surviving on your own, byee." Carter didn't glance at him as he turned around.

He really couldn't afford to bring someone like that, aside from the fact that he really didn't seem useful, bringing him would only be a hindrance to Carter.

Carter only saved him since he really didn't wish for someone to die Infront of him with him just letting it be.

He had to had done something, and he did, he just saved him, he thought that would have been enough.

"He-hey don't leave mee. Where are you going?" The man screamed.

"Stop screaming will you, you'll get us both killed. I'm leaving the building." Carter turned around and threw a threatening glare at the man that froze him up.

"Are you insane, your gonna go down dozens of floor to get out. Who knows what you will encounter."

"Ohh god will you just shut up? If you've got nothing useful to say then better shut your mouth!" Carter was really getting annoyed.

He turned around and left the man thinking he wasn't in his right mind and was an insane person.

______

It's here!!

Carter finally arrived at the elevator.

He gulped, does it still work?

I mean the electricity still works, it should still work right?

It wasn't really about whether it works or not, it was all about how safe it was for Carter.

Just imagining going down and suddenly the elevator broke, being stuck on the elevator for god knows how long, he shivered just at the thought of it possibly happening.

Taking the stairs though would take a lot out of him and would exhaust all of his stamina, he was avoiding that at all costs as by doing so, he would be putting himself in danger, who knows what he would be facing down the ground floor.

If he was exhausted then he wouldn't have any way to protect himself and he would die.

After thinking for a few minutes, Carter decided to take the elevator, it was dangerous yes, there was a possibility that he would get stuck whilst going down, but if all things ended successful then he would be much better off than going down the stairs.

He would be able to keep his stamina and have the strength to protect himself for what awaited down the ground floor.

He was just hoping that no unfortunate accidents will happen.

Carter gulped as he clicked the elevator to his floor. The light that indicated the elevator arriving shone.

Okey at least it looks like it's good.

Didn't seem like something wrong either.

At this point Carter was just keeping his mind and soul in a safe space by creating positive thoughts that may not actually be correct.

Dingg!!

The elevator arrived at his floor of which soon opened for him to enter. The elevator room seemed clean and safe, no loose wires, no flickering light or anything.

Eveythting seemed good.

No hesitation now.

Carter stepped inside the elevator and then position himself at the center, breathing out, he clicked the ground floor.

As the doors of the elevator closed though, the familiar screen showed itself to his eyes.
