Chapter 6: Stuck

"Fck!"

"Fucckkkkkk" Carter screamed to the top of his lungs.

Hew knew something bad was gonna happen, and it did.

Just as he felt the elevator go down, not even passing three floors, it stopped abruptly and shook quite violently.

Carter almost fell to the floor of the elevator by the sudden stop, dizziness had also suddenly struck his mind.

____

You have entered a Domain of Diamonds

____

Carter's eyes lost all color as his face darkened.

What the fck was a "domain of diamonds"!!

____

Mission: Make the Elevator work to get to the ground floor

Time limit : 24 hours

____

Carter looked at the screen that popped up infront of him, his eyes looking all hopeless.

What do you mean make elevator work!

"Hhahaha...AM NOT A FCKING TECHNICIAN!" Carter threw a fit of rage as he punched the screen infront of him, but it was only a hologram of sort and his fists hit nothing but air.

The screen flickered only for a moment at the futile attack of his.

____

23: 58

____

Worst of all, there was a time limit of 24 hours!!

He didn't even have any clue as to how he would be able to make the elevator work.

He didn't have the patience, the brains, and the skill for this at al!!

As if things weren't worse than it already was.

____

Penalty of not achieving the mission within the time limit : DEATH

____

Carter fell to his knees, gnashing his teeth.

He raised his head and looked at the ceiling above.

"What kind of fucked up shit is this!!"

Carter took deep breaths, screaming and shouting wouldn't help him now. It would only exhaust him.

But still, 24 hours in this enclosed space, Carter gulped as fear struck his heart.

I'm fucked!

______

Shit! shit! shit!

I'm going insane!!

Carter kept walking in circles in the small room whilst biting his nails, his eyes turned to look at the screen with the time limit.

___

11:54

___

He had less than half a day left, he had spent enough time in this enclosed space, with nothing but reflective walls and a light.

It would be enough to cause someone to go insane.

He was also getting hungry, thankfully there were some canned foods on his bag. After eating it a bit he was finally calming down.

He looked around some more, looking around almost caused him to go insane, all corners looked identical, nothing made it different at all. Surrounded with nothing but walls on all corners that reflected his figure's silhouette.

There weren't even clues as to how he could get the elevator working. Literally aside from the door and the buttons, there weren't anything worth noting in the elevator.

He had expected he would see some of those emergency buttons or those things you needed to open and connect some wires here and there to make the elevator working again. But there was no such thing.

Literally, the only thing there was the door and the buttons.

Wait...

Just then, Carter looked closely at the buttons.

It had to the buttons.

A passcode, password or something.

He ran towards the buttons, and gulped, his lips and throat being more than dried up. His face had become pale from staying here for half a day, if he spent a full day here, with his patience, he would probably go insane.

Looking at the buttons with fervent eyes, he went on clicked number on random.

37565

He clicked as many buttons as he could, it seemed that the limit of the password was five.

Which was soon proven.

Incorrect!

The button limit which was supposed to be only two corresponding to the floors actually had a limit of five which was something irregular.

Moreover, when he clicked ok the numbers formed the word 'incorrect'

Despite the failure, Carter couldn't stop himself from seeing hope.

Now he knew the way to get out of here.

He just had to place the correct passcode in the buttons.

However, his hope soon got consumed by despair.

How the fuck would he be able to determine the correct order of number with over five digits.

Just how?!

He didn't have the brains for it, he also didn't have the luck.

But could luck even help him at that point?

Five digits!

How many rotations of numbers would you have to go through for you to get the correct one. Either that or there were more clues here that would give you the correct order of numbers.

Or was it that it was impossible to make the elevator work again? Impossible to make it out alive?

Was it that this 'domain of diamonds' was made for it to be impossible to accomplish?

Carter was being consumed by despair, paranoia was also catching up to his mind. He kept biting his nails - a habit that he had build up because of his gambling addiction.

His nails snapped, Carter became determine as he slapped his cheeks.

"I gotta make it out of here. There has to be a way out. There has to be." Carter convinced himself.

With an ember of hope, Carter started looking around the room some more, this time, inspecting every thing he could. Even the littlest bit of detail.

Even though he had already scrutinized every corner, what else could he do, there had to be clues as to the order of numbers for the password, he just had to look more closely.

With a determined look, he went around to each corner of the enclosed space.

_____

Woooo...

Bang!!

Carter's breathing gradually increased. He was getting agitated. He still had not found any clue as to the order of numbers for the password.

He was going insane, for the past hour he had been looking around the small room to the point that he was beyond sick of it, he felt like he would be going insane any second, or had he become insane already?

He banged his head on the wall not being able to take it, he felt that he should just bang his head till it shattered, till he died. All thoughts ran through his mind, he couldn't contain them anymore being in this enclosed space with literally nothing, all you would be able to see was the four corners of the room and his reflection — which was very eerie on its own.

Should I just kill myself?
