"Hraaaaaagghhhhhhh!!!" I roared to the heavens - feeling the anger build up inside my body. This rage became power; the power I needed to defeat Alistoria.
This was the benefit of having Sage; a complex system that could endlessly evolve to aid me in my endeavors.
"G-Goddess Alistoria!" A villager approached their deity, but she pushed them back with the flick of her wrist.
"Stay out of this, you vermin!" Anger was brimming within her eyes as she hovered in midair, balling her fists. "I will not lose this fight! She will die by my hand!" Lifting her hand, she brought up my system. "What is this?"
To her surprise, she couldn't decipher my level.
There were a bunch of question marks near my level, and Gifts, preventing her from gauging how strong I am.
"Gurrrghhhh... haaaughh!" A wild, animalistic roar came from my throat as the reddish aura shot up into the sky like a beacon of light. "Raaaaggh!" Thus, I pounced at her and cocked my fist back.
"You untamed beast, I'll exterminate you with my divinity!" Alistoria manifested multiple spears of energy before hurtling them at me. "Perish by the might of a God!"
The spears of magical energy inched my way, but I evaded them with precision, managing to even grab one in mid-air and toss it back.
"Hmph!" Alistoria shrugged at my attempt, erecting a magical barrier to block the attack, but I ran on all fours and lunged at her again. "Do not get so cocky, mortal scum!" With a simple glare from her eyes, I was knocked back.
"Gaaaaaghh!" My body hurtled from a powerful gust of wind, leaving me unable to recover before it was too late.
"Demonic Stream."
Alistoria had already launched her next attack, firing a powerful beam of dark magic.
"Grrr... Raaaaaaaahhh!" I somersaulted in midair, regaining control before releasing a deafening shout that sent out a gust of wind, canceling out her ability.
"How unsightly." Alistoria levitated even further into the sky, "Your power grows the more angry you become, is that it? What an interesting Gift you have, Sable Brawnheart, you truly are an error within this story."
Landing on all fours, I looked like an enraged animal.
"When I was summoned, I placed a curse on both you and that Yuki person, but you managed to resist its effects, which confused me at first..." Alistoria grinned, "Until now."
Her words managed to get through my blind rage, bestowing me with curiosity. Did she figure out how Sage System worked? I didn't know the exact limits of a Goddess's knowledge, but she seemed to be telling the truth.
"Ufufufu ~ my oh my, did my words manage to get under that thick skin of yours? Yes, it is true, Sable, I've discovered how your Sage System works."
That's impossible - why should I believe her?
I growled at her words, frowning at her in the sky.
I was about to attack, but she caught me off guard once again—
"I am aware of the Otherworlders."
"Nnn?" There was a heavy pause in my actions, preventing me from moving forward.
"The people who were summoned in this world, I know of their origins and Gifts; all the Gods do."
All the Gods know of us?!
"You all brought yourselves into this world, unknowingly, with the power of your imagination. That is how transmigration is possible." She grinned at me, crossing her arms. "Otherworlders are common within this world, it's a daily occurrence with them coming from different realities, and you're just one out of many, however, your Gift is unlike any other I've seen." Mutating her grin into a frown, she aimed her palm at me. "It violates the law's reality! Your Sage System isn't endlessly evolving, it's borrowing the gifts from other people across this world!"
"Hrrghh?" Her words took me by surprise as I could feel the anger fade from my body, slowly bringing me back to normal.
The red aura vanished as I stood back up on my feet, scowling at the Demonic Goddess.
"If you were trying to buy time until my anger ran out, then you succeeded, but don't think it changes anything."
All of my rage was gone, and I could no longer be angry about Yuki's death. This was an odd feeling—I wanted to be mad—but my body wouldn't let me, thanks to Sinful Series absorbing all of my hatred.
"Pwa ha ha! That Sinful Series was a Divine Gift, and it was the only chance you had at beating me. There is a limit to your [Sage] Gift, Sable Brawnheart!" She drew a magic circle, smirking, "It runs off of your mana, and I'm afraid you're all out."
She is half-right; I'm almost out of mana, but I still have some leftovers, but it should be enough to beat her.
"[Sage], evolve."
And thus, my Gift began another evolution from my words alone, bestowing me with even more power than before.
It was transforming and searching through Telltale Chronicles to find the best suitable Gift to take down Alistoria.
[Evolution Complete. Acquired Gift: Infinite Series]
"Goodbye, Sable Brawnheart!"
There was no fear in my eyes, only pity for the Demon Goddess.
Walking forward, she launched her spell.
"Wicked Maelstrom!!"
A massive sphere of dark energy launched from her magic circle, eclipsing the entire village from its mere size alone. It had enough power to destroy cities, to entire mountains.
If I was hit by this attack, it would mean certain death.
So I destroyed it.
"Infinity Destruction."
Lifting my hand, I canceled out the attack throughout all possibilities - preventing it from ever working.
"W-What did you just do?!"
I stood before the Goddess, glaring at her from below.
"You should be out of mana! This isn't possible!!"
"Infinity Mana." My energy supply was refilling itself, endlessly, in finite time. "There was still enough mana left for one more evolution, Alistoria."
"Your mana... it's steadily increasing! What did you do?!"
"Bwa ha ha! Thanks to your foolish spouting, I've learned that [Sage]'s main ability is obtaining Gifts across this world!"
"Are you saying you obtained another God Gift?!"
I grinned before lunging at her "That's exactly right!" Boosting my speed, I punched her in the face - sending them flying through the burning village.
"Ugh... damn you!" She recovered fairly easily, and used Leviathan once again, "Soul Shatter!" Drawing a magic circle, she attempted to disintegrate my soul, but it wouldn't work.
"Infinity Speed!"
I had already blitzed her perception before she could even react, thrusting my fist in her gut.
"Unghhh!"
"I can do infinite actions in finite time—this is the power of Infinite Series!"
"Why... does something like you exist?"
Thrusting my fist even deeper, I propelled her backward and prepared my final attack.
"It's time to send you back where you belong."
Infinite Series - it was the ability to manipulate the very concept of infinity itself. That's how all Divine Gifts worked.
Each God Gift manipulates a certain concept and or idea, bestowing them with power beyond mortal comprehension, hence the name.
Alistoria's gift manipulated the Concept of Evil, allowing her to inflict various demonic effects upon her enemy and their soul.
It was befitting for a Demonic Goddess, but it wasn't enough to beat me.
"No! I can't lose, not like this! Why must I meet my end at the hands of a mortal?" Alistoria slammed into the ground, grunting in pain. "I am an immortal Goddess... my level is far beyond any finite creature. There has to be a way to win!" Slowly rising to her feet, the goddess slouched over and gritted her teeth with frustration.
"Infinity Augment."
I increased the potency of my Gifts and Magic, endlessly, granting me the power I needed to finalize my last attack.
Drawing multiple layered magic circles in front of me, I extended my palm, auto-locking on Alistoria.
"This is Yuki's gift." Frowning at the Goddess, my magic circles rotated clockwise. "Have a taste of despair."
It was complete.
"Inferno Barrage!"
Launching a gigantic fireball from my magic circle, it split apart into countless homing missiles with the power to destroy the world. Such was the power of Infinity Augment.
"Damn you, Sable Brawnheart!"
Alistoria made her last stand, erecting a magical barrier around her body.
"This will not be my end!"
The fiery missiles collided with her barrier and were put to a halt.
"You're persistent, I give you that, but you're only delaying the inevitable." Lowering my head, I scowled. "You'll pay for what you've done, Alistoria."
"Ghhhnn..." She struggled keeping the missiles at bay, "Why are you going so far for a man you don't even know, human child?!"
"Because he was innocent, and I took his life from him." Balling my fist, I kept the missiles pressuring her barrier, "Yuki wasn't in the wrong. He was only doing what was right, and I killed him because of it! So I'm gonna avenge him, and kill the one thing he hated the most!"
"Foolish... mortal!"
Her barrier started cracking like glass as heaps of fire poured in, burning her skin.
"You have the power to rule the world, and yet you're still bound by human emotions. You're laughable!"
I applied more force to my attack as the missiles finally managed to break through.
"This is the end for you, Alistoria!"
A massive, and deadly explosion occurred, enveloping the Goddess and spreading out a dozen kilometers, consuming everything within its intense heat.
The Goddess was successfully exterminated, once and for all.
Not even a spec of dust remained of her, showing the power of Infinity Series; another God Gift stolen from some deity.
"Good riddance."
There was an eerie silence as the scorched winds blew past my body, knocking the villagers on their backs. The shockwaves were devastating, even Dragonborn was in awe.
"She... killed... Goddess Alistoria?!" A villager mumbled, horrified in her expression.
"That's impossible! She's not at the level of a Goddess, so how?"
"This must be some trick - there's no way a human, let alone mortal, beat our Demonic Goddess!"
Chaos ensued among the villagers of Algrodia, they couldn't believe their eyes, watching their Goddess be manhandled and even killed right in front of them.
It was almost like a dream.
Turning around, I glared at them from afar and lowered my brows.
"Eeek!"
They were terrified.
"We kneel before your grace, almighty Sable."
The Village Head walked forward as he dropped his cane and kneeled on both hands and knees.
The villagers were in shock watching their leader submit to me.
"Hm?" Lifting my brows, there was a slight delay in my thinking.
I couldn't believe this was actually happening right now.
"I see." My words were deep, and monotone - it was like I'd become an entirely different person.
Perhaps I did.
"We all kneel before you, your majesty!"
All the villagers followed along and kneeled before me as the sound of their village steadily burned to the ground.
"You've become our new Goddess." Said the Village Head, rising to his knees. "You're the Goddess of Victory!"
Another one lifted their head.
"The Goddess of Stories."
And another one.
"The Goddess of Revenge."
I was given various titles which forced me to choose one of them - but that was fairly egotistical of me.
"If you appoint me as your new Goddess, then so be it, but do not think for a second that I'll treat you all with respect." Crossing my arms, I gave them all a death stare. "You'll have to earn it and prove your worth. That's the only way you'll have my admiration."
They all nodded their heads.
"Yes, Goddess Sable, we understand!"
"Very well."
There was something different about me.
Could it be that I transformed into a God after obtaining Divine Gifts which made my feelings of empathy disappear?
I couldn't tell, and it was worrisome, but perhaps it was for the better if I wanted to survive in a cruel world like this.
"From now on, you will build statues in my image and create a religion in my name. Everything regarding Alistoria will be discarded."
"Yes, my lady!"
