"Alright, finish eating your food and go to sleep." After a long day of exhaustion, Nick wanted to lie straight on the bed, but he hadn't bathed for two consecutive days, and the foul odor and itchiness on his body were unbearable.
He thought to himself, "I should still take a bath." It wasn't that he was messy; rather, it was the fact that stripping naked during a bath made Nick feel insecure.
Upon entering the bathroom, Nick suddenly discovered that the faucet had no water, and a messy clump of hair was clogged in the floor drain.
Nick glanced at Ada at the doorway and said, "You're losing a lot of hair, huh?" "N-no, it's not my hair,"Ada said, her pretty face pale.
Nick's face darkened: "Did another ghost sneak in?" The faucet coughed violently like it had phlegm stuck in its throat and then sprayed out a disgusting pile of black blood.
Along with it were unidentified pieces of rotten meat! Even Nick couldn't stomach the sight.
Ada said, "When I bathed yesterday, it was fine." Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.
Nick gestured for Ada to be quiet and then opened the door with a bone crusher in his hand.
Outside the door was a woman dressed in white, her hair reaching down to her waist, covering her face, resembling Sadako from "The Ring."
"3697?" A cold voice, devoid of any human emotion, came from behind the hair.
"It's me, what's up?" Although Nick sensed no malice from her, he still tightly gripped the bone crusher.
The white-clothed ghost handed Nick a box. Upon opening it,inside were clean living essentials.
"I fixed the water issue," said the white-clothed ghost. Nick realized that the messy clump of hair in the bathroom belonged to her.
What identity did this ghost have? The dormitory manager? A kind-hearted young lady?
Nick looked at the white-clothed ghost with confusion. The white-clothed ghost didn't speak but glanced at the badge on Nick's chest. Nick roughly understood.
The reward for being an excellent employee was ordered by Pinocchio.
"Don't open the door at night," said the white-clothed ghost again before leaving.
"Nick, what does she do?"Ada asked in a small voice from the bathroom.
"She delivers warmth," Nick said, handing the cardboard box to Ada and pulling out a towel and shampoo. He then dragged her out and into the bathroom to start bathing her.
The faucet quickly returned to normal, and after two days in the horror world, Nick finally got to enjoy a comfortable bath.
"Facial cleanser, face mask, body wash, and bath towel! Oh my goodness!!"
After Nick finished bathing,Ada was still going through the cardboard box, excitedly treating it like a treasure.
In this environment, these items were truly treasures for girls who loved cleanliness, more important than life-saving food.
"Take your time looking, I'm going to sleep first," Nick said. "Remember, don't open the door again. I don't want some hand to grope me in the middle of the night for no reason!"
After saying that, Nick fell asleep immediately. Ada nodded embarrassedly and ran into the bathroom with a few bathing products.
The night passed without incident.
The next day, Nick and Ada arrived at the dining hall early.
Pinocchio was already waiting on the puppet shelf for some time.
"Today, employee 3699's position is still a waiter, with a task of delivering seven orders to meet the standard."
"Employee 3697, today's position is an apprentice chef. You need to personally cook two dishes required by the guests and achieve an evaluation of average or above to complete the task!"
Cooking? Nick was stunned. Ada also widened her eyes.
Nick's face looked ugly; was this targeting him? Yesterday, he was given an excellent employee badge!
Undoubtedly, the mortality rate for chefs was much higher than that of waiters. Suddenly asking Nick to cook two dishes without any negative reviews was not just about pressure; it was bullying!
Pinocchio didn't care what Nick thought and simply said, "The reward is not low!" After saying that, he left.
"Nick,"Ada looked at Nick with concern. Nick's face remained calm: "Cooking is something I'm good at."
"Don't worry about me, just take care of yourself first,"Ada said before leaving.
Nick followed the instructions and went to the storage room to change his employee uniform into a chef's uniform. It fit quite well, but it was as dirty as ever.
"You have been assigned to Table 2. Please go to Table 2 and prepare the dishes according to the customer's request!"
Without much thought, Nick immediately stood up and left the room. When he arrived at the restaurant and saw the customer at Table 2, Nick's face instantly turned sour.
At Table 2, a little girl in a rose-patterned dress was sucking on a lollipop, idly swinging her legs wrapped in lace-trimmed socks. It was the same half-ghost little girl from yesterday!
Remembering how she had killed the chef just because the food was too sweet, a layer of sweat formed on Nick's forehead. Could he really be that unlucky?
"Human, why are you staring at me?" The little girl suddenly tilted her head and looked at Nick.
Nick calmed himself down and said, "I'm the chef who will be cooking for you today."
"Oh, so you're brave enough to cook for me, a human. Did you see what happened to the chef yesterday?" The little girl rested her chin in her hands and grinned at Nick.
Nick felt embarrassed. He wanted to say that he was very brave, but seeing the innocent smile on the little girl's face, he felt a shiver in his heart and gave up on the idea of joking.
"Here's my menu. Can you make it?" Nick took it and glanced at it. It was a caramel milk tea, a very ordinary afternoon snack.
However, Nick couldn't figure out why the chef from yesterday had failed with such a simple dish. Something must be wrong.
Nick looked up and stared at the little girl, activating his "Analysis Eye".
"Analysis Eye: When I was young, my mother made me a caramel milk tea. My mischievous sister secretly cut her hair and sprinkled it on the milk tea. After I drank it, my stomach felt like it was being stabbed by countless needles, and I was in pain all night."
"But later, I found that I liked that pain. It became a bizarre habit for me to secretly cut my hair and sprinkle it on the milk tea every time. The terrible pain made me toss and turn in bed, but it also satisfied some kind of excitement in my heart."
"After my mother disappeared, the only thing I remembered about her was the caramel milk tea."
Wow, drinking milk tea with shattered hair in it!
Nick didn't have much education, but he knew what it felt like to swallow hair fragments.
This little girl looked pure and innocent, yet she had such a bizarre habit!
The chef probably died without understanding that the key to this simple milk tea was not to make it delicious, but to make it painful for her to drink! He died so unjustly.
"Do I look good, big brother?" The little girl suddenly smiled.
Nick's face changed slightly. "Wait a moment," he said and quickly left the restaurant for the kitchen.
The chefs were already busy, and no one paid attention to Nick. They were all focused on their own dishes, preparing all kinds of heavy-tasting ingredients.
It was easy to find afternoon drinks like milk tea in the kitchen. Making milk tea didn't require any skills; just mix the ingredients together and heat or cool them.
When it was almost done, Nick cut a cluster of his own bangs, shredded them finely, and mixed them into the milk tea. The chef beside him watched this inhumane act with astonishment. "Human, are you serious?"
Nick ignored him, scooped the dish onto a plate, and served it. In the restaurant, many customers were paying attention to the little girl's table.
After all, they still remembered what happened yesterday! Ada was also watching, silently praying for Nick.
The dish was soon served, and seeing that it was made by a human, many customers showed excited smiles. Unlike yesterday, what they liked most was the sight of human blood splattering in the restaurant. The smell of fresh blood increased their appetite.
"Enjoy your meal," Nick said with a gesture.
The little girl squatted on her chair, examining the milk tea curiously like a little kitten, and commented, "Your dish looks even worse than yesterday's!"
Nick remained calm and said, "Appearance doesn't matter; you have to taste it to know."
The little girl tilted her head and looked at Nick with surprise. "You're quite confident," she said before popping the lollipop out of her mouth and picking up the ceramic bowl to take a sip.
Instantly, the entire restaurant fell silent. It seemed like all the customers were waiting for the little girl's evaluation.
Some were excited, some were uneasy...
