Chapter 22: One night for May and Tom

"Is there still hope for me?" Bob asked V, his voice carrying a hint of uncertainty.

Jack was about to explain how they ended up in this situation, but Bob quickly stopped him. He glanced around at the people nearby and held back his words.

V chuckled and said casually, "Theoretically, your genetic technology is advanced enough to replicate any body part. I don't think there's a problem, but you'll need to find a scientist specializing in genetic restoration." His emotions and way of thinking were almost indistinguishable from those of a human.

"But I don't think there's any need to go back to the way you were," Tom interjected, looking at Bob. "You function just the same, right? Plus, you're immune to the zombie virus. Honestly, in times like these, that's the best weapon anyone could ask for." He paused for a moment before adding with a smirk, "Though… you do look kinda ugly."

Bob shot him a glance and sneered, "You want it? You can have it."

Before Tom could reply, Bob suddenly grabbed his wrist. Tom instinctively pulled back, while May, panicking, grabbed Bob's arm and yanked him away, as if afraid he might suddenly turn.

Bob burst into laughter, nearly doubling over. Pointing at May and Tom, he teased, "If you like each other, just go for it! The world's already ended—why not enjoy the time we have left?"

Before anyone could react, May leaned in and kissed Tom directly.

Tom stiffened for a second, instinctively glancing around, a bit embarrassed. But after everything they had been through, he quickly realized—what was there to be embarrassed about anymore?

"Get out!" Tom suddenly shouted.

Jack and the others, already grinning, quickly rushed out of the room. On his way out, Bob even pulled out two condoms from his pocket and tossed them onto the bed near Tom, flashing him a mischievous grin.

The room fell silent, leaving only the two of them.

The only thing harder than diamonds is the hormones of a teenage boy.

Though Tom was young, there was a surprising maturity in his actions. He didn't rush in recklessly. Instead, he gently ran his fingers down May's back, his lips tracing soft kisses along her forehead and cheeks. His breathing was heavy with anticipation, unable to hide his excitement.

May shivered slightly, feeling both nervous and excited. Meanwhile, outside, Jack and the others, as if sensing the moment, pulled the curtains shut. Darkness enveloped the room, erasing all inhibitions.

They slowly removed each other's clothing until they were bare, facing each other. The faint light filtering through the cracks in the window cast soft shadows over their skin, accentuating their toned bodies and intensifying the atmosphere.

May chuckled playfully. "Why aren't you stopping now?"

Tom smirked. "I was just worried you'd be shy, babe." Before he even finished speaking, his hands had already slid around her waist.

"Then stop now," May teased, placing a hand on his chest. "I prefer a man who takes charge."

Tom's eyes darkened. Without hesitation, he tightened his grip around her waist and lifted her off the ground. Instinctively, May wrapped her legs around his hips.

"Like this?" Tom murmured, fully understanding what she wanted.

He carefully placed her down onto the bed. As their bodies slowly parted, something hard pressed against May's stomach.

She let out a small laugh. "So, you really are that firm."

"Don't worry," Tom whispered in her ear, his voice low and sultry. "I'll make sure you're completely relaxed." His breath sent shivers down her spine.

Then, he kissed her.

That night, neither of them slept.

The only problem? They ran out of condoms.

In the middle of the night, Tom slipped out of the room and quietly nudged Bob, who was fast asleep.

"Give me five more," Tom whispered.

Half-asleep, Bob fumbled in his pocket and handed them over without opening his eyes. "You two… seriously…"

Turns out, Tom and May really did go all night.

The next morning.

"You two still alive?" Bob yawned, eyeing Tom with amusement. "The world's ending, and you're still going at it like this?"

Tom stretched lazily, looking completely satisfied. "I'm young. I've got the stamina."

Jack grinned and added, "Tom used to play tennis, you know. Two-hour matches were nothing for him!"

Bob scoffed. "Well, last night wasn't just two hours. More like five."

Jack raised an eyebrow. "How do you know?"

Bob pointed toward the foot of Tom's bed. "Look at the floor."

Everyone turned their heads. Several empty condom wrappers were scattered near the bed.

Blushing, May hurried forward and slammed the door shut, while the rest burst into laughter.

Once the laughter died down, V's expression turned serious. "We can't stay here much longer. We need to move. I've heard there's a team in Blackwall City that's been researching the fusion of human genetics and the zombie virus for a long time. If we go there, we might find some crucial answers."

"Do you guys remember the leader we encountered before?" John, the soldier, suddenly spoke up. "He was just a commander of one faction within the military. That underground fighting ring we saw? That was just one of their entertainment facilities. The real force behind them wasn't wiped out."

The group's expressions darkened.

John continued, "What's worse—Leo might be heading there too. And Blackwall City? It's one of their strongholds. I can tell you this—no one really knows what's going on inside their ranks. They could be like Hydra from Marvel, infiltrating everything."

Lily muttered, "If morality and order collapse, no one will be left untouched."

Jack clenched his fist, his gaze sweeping over the group. "That's why our mission is clear—to establish our own order and make sure the world doesn't completely fall apart."

Tom tightened his grip on May's hand and said solemnly, "The world is already beyond recognition… I just want to find a place where we can truly belong."

The group exchanged glances, nodding in silent agreement.

They packed up their gear, ready to set off on their next journey.

Before leaving, they said their goodbyes to John and Sarah. The couple had decided to stay and raise their child in the safety of their home. They planned to wait until their kid was three years old before venturing out again.

Their farewell was filled with hope and well wishes.

Perhaps, somewhere down the road, they would meet again.
