"Consume the heavens and earth, devour for me!"
In the critical moment, Allen feigned indifference, but secretly performed the Great Devouring Technique. The holy energy surging into his body rapidly transformed into overwhelming magical power and vitality, cleansing his bones and marrow. Every sinew, every strand of hair, emitted vibrant life force, and his blood roiled, quickly causing a stir.
"The blessing of the gods, heavens, it's truly the blessing of the gods!"
"Impressive, a devoted missionary, truly extraordinary!"
...
As the nuns watched Allen eagerly absorb vast quantities of divine energy, their astonishment grew. Even the ever-prudent Akashi, the old virgin, widened her eyes in surprise. Normally, the purification of ordinary people results in a minimal amount of divine energy, and only a rare few devout followers are graced with the gods' blessing, strengthening their bodies significantly.
Initially, Akashi had harbored doubts about Allen's true intentions, worried that he might be a disguised, powerful undead infiltrating the convent. She had even considered personally testing him. But witnessing Allen absorb such copious amounts of divine energy, her suspicions were completely dispelled.
"Good, well done, you are indeed a devoted missionary. In that case, Allen, you shall stay as an apprentice priest!" After a brief pause, Akashi, with a composed tone, issued a few orders and, followed by the nun Theresa, turned to leave. Before they could go far, Ophelia and the others gathered around to congratulate him. Soon, a nun respectfully presented Allen with a red ceremonial priest's robe.
Compared to the inquisitors and the knights defending the faith, priests held far more influence in the divine hierarchy. While an apprentice priest had no real authority, their position and potential far outstripped that of ordinary knights and priests. Even a knight, no matter how powerful, could not easily enter the sacred convent, yet a priest could come and go freely.
"Actually, I'm a lich."
Watching the retreating figure of the old virgin and the delicate nuns by her side, Allen chuckled lightly. He had already prepared for the worst, even willing to expend all his crystals and summon the lich army to fight his way out. But unexpectedly, not only had his identity remained concealed, he had absorbed vast amounts of magical and life energy, becoming a divine priest! Donning this wolf's pelt, who would dare question his true nature now?
An evil lich, stealthily lurking in the holy convent!
In the quiet of the night, as the nuns drifted into sleep one by one, the already tranquil convent grew even more serene. The vast expanse of the convent was now home only to Allen, the wolf, roaming leisurely, observing his surroundings with interest, pondering how to secretly seize the energy-charged Saintess Gem. Originally, he had planned just a brief stroll before returning to his cultivation, but as he passed a small grove, he suddenly heard a few faint gasps.
Creeping closer, he saw a lecherous man forcibly holding a curvaceous nun, groping her. The man, strong and muscular, was none other than the ever-brooding Urbatto. The nun in his arms, struggling desperately, was none other than the proud and aloof Theresa, who had stood by Akashi earlier in the day. She now writhed under Urbatto's assault.
"How dare you, what are you two doing?" Seeing Urbatto, emboldened by lust, Allen smirked wickedly, clearing his throat before approaching with cold steps.
"Ah..."
Startled by his sharp shout, Urbatto, caught in the act, dropped his longsword and, in panic, fled without a second thought, completely disregarding the sword on the ground. The Church forbade any relations between its nuns and others, and violators faced severe punishment, even execution. No one, not even a noble of great standing, would dare breach this ancient law.
Entering the sacred convent and assaulting a nun was a grave crime in itself, and being caught red-handed by a priest of high status was nothing short of disastrous.
Despite his powerful family, Urbatto, upon casting a hasty glance at Allen's priestly robes, felt a surge of panic. The man seemed vaguely familiar, but he had no time to focus on the details and fled as fast as a rabbit. Only Theresa, disheveled and fearful, failed to escape, retreating into a dark corner, her eyes bloodshot, filled with a mixture of humiliation, confusion, and a tinge of girlish modesty.
"Hmm, sneaking out in the dead of night to do such things... Is this the so-called future saintess we hold in such esteem?" Allen shook his head, feigning disappointment, looking at the formerly cold and distant Theresa. "Tell me, according to the laws of the Church, how should I punish you?"
"No, sir, I..." Under Allen's stern gaze, the usually proud Theresa could no longer hold back and, in desperation, cried out, "Please, sir, don't let Akashi find out about this. If you spare me, I'll accept any punishment!"
Though her family had fallen, and they now lived in a humble settlement, Theresa still carried the blood and spirit of a noble. Normally aloof and distant, she was focused on her training, aspiring to one day rise to the rank of a revered saintess.
But tonight, under the coercion of Urbatto's lewdness, she had hoped to sever ties with him once and for all. She never expected to be caught violating the convent's sacred laws, especially by a priest. If Akashi, ever so strict, found out, it would be the end of her. Not only would she be punished, but her family would also suffer, possibly even being sent to the divine executioner's stake.
A fallen noble was often treated worse than a commoner.
"Oh, you're willing to accept any punishment?" Allen raised an eyebrow, surprised, before a sly smile crossed his face.
At first, he had only intended to tease the seemingly pure nun, but seeing her innocent, sacred face now tinged with humiliation, an idea struck him—a bold, daring plan.
Since he had already infiltrated the convent under the guise of a priest, why not take full advantage of it? Why not use Theresa as his pawn within the Church? With her position, he could seize the Saintess Gem and, perhaps one day, place her on the throne of the Saintess.
The Saintess Cultivation Plan.
The Church of the Divine claimed to be the most powerful and sacred force on the continent of Dallas, the embodiment of the will of the Creator, and the mortal enemies of the undead. For millions of years, countless undead had perished at the hands of the Church, even the powerful Lich Kings leading armies of the dead in vain attempts to retaliate. Yet none had ever truly gained the upper hand.
The Church's influence spread to every corner of the continent, and the pure and beautiful Saintesses represented its holiness and glory. What would happen if a high-ranking, pure Saintess were secretly an evil undead's slave? The shockwaves would be unimaginable!
Having inherited the will and soul imprint of the Lich King Ovissis, Allen instinctively detested the hypocrisy of the Church. If the Saintess Cultivation Plan succeeded, it would not only be a slap in the face of the Church, but the rewards would be almost beyond comprehension. He could weaken the Church's power, use its resources to eliminate rivals, and accelerate his own cultivation. While most undead feared the Church's holy energy, for him, the more divine energy he absorbed, the faster he would grow stronger!
The energy of life, converted from holy power, contained the laws of life, while the soul of the undead contained the laws of death. If he could master both, he might one day fully understand life and death, and step into the legendary realm of the Divine Domain.
"Very well, then," Allen said, a spark of excitement in his voice.
Suddenly, a black pen appeared in his hand. Swiftly, he traced several cryptic symbols in the air, silently imprinting a deep soul mark within Theresa's mind. He had placed a crucial pawn within the Church's ranks. With her inside influence, the next steps to seize the Saintess Gem would become much more feasible.
A saintess-to-be, pure and innocent, now tainted by a dark plot. What a triumph it would be to train such a woman into a puppet, one who would unknowingly serve his wicked designs.
In time, the most sacred and revered Saintess of the Church, crawling like a lamb at his feet—Allen's blood boiled at the thought. Whether it was the imprint of Ovissis's will or something else within him, the more sinister and despicable the plan, the faster his soul crystal pulsed, merging further with the imprint of Ovissis, amplifying his magical and soul energy. The dark aura around him intensified as his cultivation broke through yet another bottleneck. The surrounding forest darkened, the atmosphere thickening with an oppressive aura.
At that moment, a roar erupted deep from within his soul, and the pulsating soul crystal unleashed an invisible shockwave, carrying a lethal aura of death. In the blink of an eye, all the torches in the small town were extinguished, and the sleeping townsfolk awoke in panic, heartbeats racing. From the desolate ground outside, skeletal hands began to claw their way up from the earth.
The wailing of spirits could be heard in the distance.
With a surge of stored energy, Allen broke through his limits, fusing even more deeply with the soul imprint of the Lich King Ovissis, his soul energy surging to new heights.
Finally, he broke through from a level seven magic apprentice to level eight, unleashing a horrifying soul storm.
Death, violence, oppression, suffocation...
Clad in priestly robes, Allen stood as if from the very abyss of another dimension, exuding an ancient, god-like presence, casting his shadow over the small town of Wu Hai. Those few powerful figures meditating in the town suddenly opened their eyes, their faces shifting in alarm.
