Chapter 3: Crisis in Party

Xuen left the shop, and it was nearly time for the prestigious Song Family party. Having spent all his money on medicine, Xuen arrived at the venue dressed casually, wearing trousers, a thin outer layer, and a T-shirt, having traveled there by bus. As he approached the entrance, everyone was utterly shocked. It was unprecedented for someone to attend such a high-end event in such informal attire.

Whispers and gossip quickly spread among the guests. When Xuen attempted to enter, a guard stopped him, asking, "Excuse me, sir! May I ask who you are? Do you have an invitation?" Xuen, taken aback by the guard's direct question, replied calmly, "I was invited by Old Hao." The crowd was stunned—could this seemingly ordinary young man truly have been invited by the esteemed Lin Hao?

Xuen, undeterred, tried to enter again, stating, "If there's nothing else, I'll proceed inside." The guard and the onlookers hesitated, unsure of how to react. His casual mention of Lin Hao made them question whether he might be a person of significant importance, perhaps a powerful figure disguised in humble clothing.

Xuen eventually made his way into the party, which was a lavish affair. The venue was adorned with opulent decor, and the tables were filled with expensive wines, fine spirits, and luxurious delicacies. The grandeur of the event stood in stark contrast to Xuen's simple appearance, yet he carried himself with an air of quiet confidence.

Xuen, who had been quietly observing the scene while eating, felt an inexplicable surge of emotions—sorrow and anger—as he watched a confrontation unfold. A man, Song Hu from the influential Song family, was berating a young, beautiful waitress with black hair, accusing her of ruining his expensive suit. The girl, apologetic yet defiant, insisted that Song Hu had bumped into her. Enraged, Song Hu slapped her and demanded she either pay for the suit or lose her job. When she confessed she couldn't afford the exorbitant sum, Song Hu callously suggested she spend the night with him instead.

Xuen, though usually indifferent to others' affairs, felt a strange, unsettling connection to the girl. Before he could act, Lin Quirong, a member of the Lin family, intervened. She chastised Song Hu for his vile behavior, pointing out that the girl was underage and condemning the Song family's moral decay. Song Hu, initially backing down, insisted the girl still owed him 100,000 yuan. When Quirong slapped him in response, Song Hu, furious and emboldened by his family's status, ordered his guards to capture her.

At that moment, Lin Hao, Quirong's grandfather and a formidable figure, arrived and confronted Song Hu, forcing him to retreat. Song Hu's father, Song Wei, attempted to smooth things over, apologizing to Lin Hao but still demanding compensation from the waitress. As the guards moved to seize her, Xuen, overcome with rage, intervened with lethal force, killing one guard instantly. When questioned about his identity, Xuen cryptically replied, "I am someone who loves cake," as he casually continued eating.

The remaining guards attacked Xuen but were swiftly incapacitated. The situation escalated further when Song family's elite elder, Li Xu Mo, a peak martial expert, confronted Xuen, demanding he kneel and apologize. Lin Hao, however, stepped in to defend Xuen, declaring him a special guest of the Lin family. The crowd was stunned, as no one knew who Xuen was or why he had taken such a bold stand.

Xuen approached the waitress, who was trembling on the floor, and helped her up. As he did so, he recognized her—she was his long-lost sister, Zhao Linn'er. Her familiar face and a small mole on her neck confirmed her identity. Overwhelmed with joy and sadness, Xuen discreetly arranged for Lin family members to escort her to safety, keeping his revelation to himself for the time being.

The Lin family, though puzzled by Xuen's actions, stood by him, while the crowd remained in shock, unaware of the deeper connection between Xuen and the waitress. The incident had not only exposed the Song family's corruption but also revealed Xuen's hidden past and the emotional turmoil he had long suppressed.

As the tension in the room began to settle, the Lin family attempted to broker peace, but the Song family demanded an apology from Xuen. Lin Hao, however, firmly rejected their demand, stating, "I cannot compel Xuen to apologize. He is someone I regard as superior to myself. How could I possibly dictate his actions?" His declaration left the attendees in stunned silence, their minds reeling at the implications of his words.

Xuen, calm and unyielding, stepped forward to face Li Xu Mo, the Song family's peak martial expert. "You want me to apologize?" he asked boldly, his tone dripping with defiance. Enraged, Li Xu Mo launched a furious attack, but Xuen merely raised a finger and pointed at him. In an instant, Li Xu Mo collapsed, lifeless, without even a chance to resist. The room erupted in gasps of horror and disbelief. A peak martial expert, a figure of immense power, had been extinguished like a candle flame. Was this some kind of nightmare?

Without hesitation, Xuen turned his attention to Song Hu. "You wanted that girl to spend the night with you," He stated coldly. Song Hu, trembling in terror, stammered, "Sorry, I'm sorry! I didn't—" But before he could finish, Xuen ended his life with a single, effortless motion. Song Wei, Song Hu's father, met the same fate moments later. Three pivotal members of the Song family had been obliterated as if they were nothing more than insects. The onlookers were paralyzed with fear, their minds struggling to comprehend the sheer magnitude of Xuen's power.

While the crowd assumed Xuen was a Martial Master, only Lin Hao knew the truth: even a Martial Master would be insignificant before Xuen's might. As the atmosphere grew increasingly tense, guests began to quietly slip away, their hearts heavy with fear and confusion.

Once the room had cleared, Lin Hao approached Xuen, his voice filled with curiosity. "Why did you go to such lengths to protect that waitress? Do you have feelings for her?"

Xuen's response was simple yet profound. "Who wouldn't protect their own little sister?"

Lin Hao and Lin Quirong were stunned. Quirong, her voice tinged with disbelief, asked, "Sister? But you two acted like strangers."

Xuen then revealed his past, explaining how he had once been a member of the Zhao family, a family lost to tragedy. He had believed himself to be the sole survivor, only to discover that his sister, Zhao Linn'er, was still alive. "It's been ten years," Xuen said, his voice heavy with emotion. "She was only seven years old back then. How could she recognize me now? But I knew it was her—her resemblance, the unease I felt when she was hurt, and the mole on her neck confirmed it."

Quirong, her curiosity piqued, asked, "If you were alive all this time, where have you been for the past decade?" Lin Hao, however, gently intervened, sensing the weight of Xuen's emotions. "Quirong, no more questions. This is difficult for him." He alone knew of Xuen's connection to the enigmatic master within the Lin family.

Quirong nodded in understanding, and the group returned to the Lin family estate. As the night drew to a close, Quirong bid Xuen goodnight, her voice soft and sincere. "Good night, Xuen. Sleep well."

Xuen, his tone equally gentle, replied, "You too."

The night settled over the estate, but the events of the evening lingered in the air, a harbinger of the profound changes yet to come.
