Chapter 10 First Important Mission

Lin Fan stood in the Imperial Beast Master Association's quest hall, looking at the list of quests scrolling on the electronic screen with some apprehension in his heart. This was the first important mission he received after becoming an official Royal Beast Master.

"Lin Fan, are you ready?" Su Yuqing walked to his side, with her Pho Pho standing on her shoulder. Pho Pho's ears twitched slightly, seemingly wary of the upcoming mission.

Lin Fan nodded and looked at Taotie who was lying at his feet, "What about you?"

Taotie yawned lazily, "Mortal, a mere mission is worth this seat's personal effort?"

Lin Fan: "..."

Chen Tianming walked over, holding a mission briefing in his hand, "The location of this mission is the 'Misty Forest', located on the southwest border. A large number of spirit beasts have recently rioted there, and we need you to investigate the cause."

Lin Fan took the briefing and realized that there were many dangerous areas marked on it, "What are these red dots?"

"They are the high incidence areas of spirit beast riots." Chen Tianming explained, "And here..." He pointed at a skull mark on the briefing, "is the territory of the 'Misty Python'. It is the overlord of the forest and its strength should not be underestimated."

Su Yuqing nodded, "We will be careful."

Chen Tianming patted Lin Fan's shoulder, "Remember, your mission is to investigate the cause of the Spirit Beast riot, don't cause any complications."

Lin Fan: "Understood."

They traveled to the Misty Forest in the Association's special car. On the way, Lin Fan asked Su Yuqing somewhat nervously, "Do you think this mission will go well?"

Su Yuqing smiled, "With me here, it will be fine."

Lin Fan: "..."

After reaching the edge of the forest, they got off and entered on foot. The forest was filled with fog and visibility was extremely low. Lin Fan felt his breathing become difficult.

"Be careful, there might be poisonous fog here." Su Yuqing reminded.

Taotie sniffed the air, "Mortal, don't make a fuss. A mere poisonous mist, how dare you act recklessly in front of this seat?"

It opened its mouth and let out a deafening roar, "Nine Underworld Demon Flame!"

Black flames erupted from the Taotie's mouth, instantly dispersing the surrounding mist. Lin Fan stared at the scene dumbfounded, "This is too handsome..."

Taotie said smugly, "Mortal, know how powerful this seat is?"

They continued on and came to an open field. The ground was filled with the corpses of spirit beasts, and it looked as if they had gone through a grueling battle.

"This is the center area of the spirit beast riot." Su Yuqing squatted down to inspect the corpses, "It looks like they killed each other..."

Lin Fan frowned, "Why is that so?"

Just then, a gust of cloudy wind blew through, and the temperature in the forest plummeted. Lin Fan felt his breathing become difficult.

"Be careful!" Su Yuqing shouted.

A black shadow swooped out of the fog with astonishing speed. The Taotie instantly grew bigger and blocked in front of them. The black shadow crashed into the Taotie and let out a mournful scream.

Only then did Lin Fan see that it was a huge black panther with bloodshot eyes and sharp fangs.

"It's the Shadow Leopard!" Su Yuqing exclaimed, "Be careful, it will be invisible!"

Taotie said disdainfully, "A mere beast, how dare you act recklessly in front of this seat?"

It opened its mouth and let out a deafening roar, "Nine Devilish Flames!"

Black flames erupted from the Taotie's mouth, instantly engulfing the Shadow Leopard. However, the Shadow Leopard was not annihilated, instead it expanded in the flames, becoming as huge as the Taotie in the blink of an eye.

"Not good, it's absorbing the power of the forest!" Su Yuqing shouted, "We must finish it off as soon as possible!"

Taotie narrowed his eyes, "Mortals, stand back. Let this seat deal with it."

Lin Fan and Su Yuqing stepped back to the side. The Taotie and the Shadow Leopard engaged in a fierce battle. The two behemoths collided in the forest, each clash triggering huge tremors.

The battle lasted for ten minutes before the Taotie finally found an opportunity. It opened its bloody mouth and bit down on the Shadow Leopard's neck, "Devour Heaven and Earth!"

The Dark Shadow Leopard let out one last miserable cry and dissipated into a ball of black gas.

Lin Fan sighed in relief, "Finally settled..."

Right at this moment, the ground of the forest suddenly began to shake. The trees began to collapse as if it was warning of something.

"Not good, the forest is going to collapse!" Su Yuqing shouted.

They hurriedly ran outside. The moment they rushed out of the forest, the entire forest collapsed. Amidst the dust, Lin Fan saw Taotie lazily walking over with a black crystal in his mouth.

"Mortal, your stuff." Taotie threw the crystal stone to Lin Fan.

Lin Fan took the crystal stone and his heart was a little complicated, "Thank you..."

Su Yuqing looked at the crystal stone in her hand, "This mission is finally completed. However..." She looked at the collapsed forest, "We seem to have destroyed the forest..."
