To start off, one needs wealth!

Chapter 3: To start off, one needs wealth!

He made his goal simple; first, he had to have enough money. With the capital he had in half, he went the second day to find out the prices of stores and asked around to know what he needed to make a business and what exactly worked.

After that, he knew that with the money he had already, it would be just enough to kick off a good business, but he was cautious; he wanted to always have some savings.

Thus, he took on a good-paying job, the one where he had to tend to 70 farms for 70 days alongside 4 other workers.

With that money, he had enough to buy a small store in a good location, renovate it, and have enough savings to live carelessly for a few months if things went south.

As for what he was going to sell...

"Bread? Are you serious?" Tony, one of Adamus' co-workers, looked at him intently while questioning him.

"Ahahahahaha!" Nelson, who had his blond hair waving, laughed his ass off, but it wasn't that he thought it was dumb; he was just the type to laugh a lot at everything.

"I always thought you were smart; turns out, even you make bad decisions." Tony sighed and shook his head.

Tony was a brown-haired individual, and after Adamus, he was the youngest at 20, a hard worker who also put a lot of thoughts into his future and was already the man of the family after his father had died.

"If it's Adamus, I believe he will somehow find a way to make it work." Another brown-haired man with rough features spoke. This man was the oldest, named Daniel, and he was the oldest of the bunch, as well as the earliest in this field of work. His relationship with the boss was close, and he was even a father of 3 energetic lads who Adamus liked a lot.

"Mhm." The last man nodded, another young man, around the age of Nelson, who seldom spoke but had good relations with the group.

"No, no, do you know how many bread stores there are? How are you so sure it will work out? With that money, I'd rather get a few fields and work my ass off on them; at least that won't go down the drain." Tony shook his head once more and gave his heartfelt suggestions to Adamus.

"Heh, you will see." Adamus just smiled softly and said, his confidence almost overflowing.

"Haha, confident are we?" Nelson tapped Adamus' shoulder with his hands full of chicken crumbs.

"You will get me dirty." Adamus said.

"As if you're clean, Haha." Nelson replied.

"Hey Adamus, have you seriously thought this through? I don't want you to waste your hard-earned money. What if your store goes downhill and the bread you cook doesn't turn out good?"

Seeing Tony persisting so much, Adamus, who knew this man was putting himself in his pants and was genuinely worried, so instead of talking a lot, Adamus just reassured him and went on to do his business the next day.

After that, he called the group over and had them taste the prototype bread he had made and the first to react was...

"T-THIS! THIS IS THE BEST PIECE OF BREAD I'VE EVER EATEN!" Tony shouted to the skies as Adamus just stood on the side and laughed.

"Is it that good?" Nelson squinted his eyes and took one for him, a piece of bread that was circular in shape and looked no different from others aside from its shape.

But when he tasted it, his eyes lit up and he was shocked.

"I-It's good! Sheriously... goohd!" He said while eating the rest of the bread.

After that, the other two ate their parts and almost immediately showed their like.

"Love it!" Even the silent one, Thomas, had to speak.

"What are you going to call this bread?" Daniel asked, interested as he smiled.

"It's called Dandren bread. Ma used to make it for me every day, and I never got enough of it, nor could I make it as good. If my Ma had made it, you'd be jumping up and down from happiness." Adamus raised his head and his confidence beamed beyond belief.

"No wonder." When Tony saw this, he knew why Adamus was so confident back then. Whenever things were related to his grandmother, his mood would take drastic changes.

"Hey, Adamus, Can I invest in this business? Seriously, this is definitely going to shoot to the stars!" He said.

"Haha, sorry Tony, but I have enough money to start, but if you want to come work for me, I won't say no." Adamus refused. It's not that he didn't want to, but he really had no need for others' money; he wanted to be self-sufficient and self-reliant, never owing favors to others, one of the reasons why he wanted to get strong enough and work as a soldier of the baron.

"Ah, too bad." Tony shook his head; he couldn't afford to leave his job now.

Later on, when the group wanted to leave, Adamus stopped Daniel.

"Here, give this to your kids, and your wife too." Adamus got a bag and gave it to him.

"Thank you, Adamus. If you need help, just give the word."

"I didn't do this to owe you a favor; if I didn't give them this, those lads would get angry after you told them about it."

"That will be a pain." Daniel, knowing his mischievous sons, smiled.

"Indeed." Adamus chuckled.

"Still, you're our younger brother, if you need help, don't forget we're here for you." Daniel said and the group behind him smiled.

"Heh, what can I say. Sure will." Adamus shook his head while smiling and spoke.

After that, the group left, and Adamus got busy with preparing the shop, learning to read and write, and even making sure to perfect the bread, trying different ways and adding different ingredients, but he failed time and time again, as if it couldn't be perfected anymore.

He later realized that he couldn't outperform his grandmother.

"Seriously... Ma is a genius." And so, he decided that rather than trying to make new variations, he would stick to this and later on make what his grandmother seldom cooked, though he didn't know the ingredients of most.

And so, a few months after Adamus set foot on Ouloba, the first business was made, one that will act as the foundation of a great family.
