At night, Lucas Hall lay in bed.
As usual, he would drink a bottle of Vital Coconut Juice before sleeping.
But tonight, he had another choice — to drink the colorless potion.
This potion had a revitalizing effect, and Seraphina shouldn't be lying to him...
So should he drink it, or not?
Lucas carefully examined the bottle. It was colorless and transparent, thick and viscous, with a few long legs floating inside.
In the dark, it would emit a faint glow.
After only a few minutes of consideration, Lucas decided to try a little.
Having invested so much, he had to give it a shot!
He could always drink half!
He pinched his nose, not thinking about what the viscous liquid was made of, unscrewed the cap, and tried to suck out some of the liquid.
But who knew the liquid would be so thick that it wouldn't even break off when he bit it!
And it smelled terrible, like a slime living in the sewers.
Lucas held back his urge to vomit, crushed the long legs inside, and swallowed it in one gulp.
[You have consumed an unknown potion]
As soon as the potion slid down his esophagus, a warm sensation spread from his stomach throughout his entire body, wiping away all his fatigue!
"Such good effects?"
Right after, a notification popped up.
[Energy restored by 30, energy recovery speed increased by 125%, lasts for 8 hours]
"That's awesome!"
But then suddenly, he felt something wrong. His body started to flush in several places, like his eyes, and...
[You are in a frenzied state, lasting for 1 hour]
"Damn! I knew this thing had a problem!"
Lucas's eyes turned bloodshot. He immediately sat up, and the potion's information was displayed.
[Name: Frenzied Elixir]
[Type: Consumable/Potion/Unique]
[Quality: Premium]
[Description: A potion created by the witch Seraphina. Ingredients include a sea monster's pituitary secretion, sea monster's saliva, sea monster's glandular mucus, and long-legged sardine legs.
Consuming it restores 30 energy, reduces sanity by 20, increases energy recovery speed by 125%, lasts for 8 hours, with an effect cooldown of 24 hours.
It induces a frenzied state, lasting for 1 hour. Multiple doses will extend the frenzied period, but there is a risk of poisoning!]
The side effects... Lucas didn't even know how to describe them.
If sold, it would definitely be a hit!
But Lucas didn't plan on selling the potion because its description included the creator's name!
He felt this might bring unnecessary trouble.
An hour later, Lucas lay back down.
"I'll have to tell Seraphina to improve it and remove these side effects next time!"
He sent Seraphina a message.
"This potion has way too serious side effects! You need to improve it! Next time, try drinking it yourself and see the effects before giving it to me!"
After sending the message, he fell asleep.
The nightmares continued. Lucas's sleep quality was poor, but with the potion's boost, he didn't need to worry about energy recovery—just black circles under his eyes.
The next morning, Lucas was awakened by a knock on the door.
He was in the middle of a nightmare and was startled awake, immediately pointing his gun at the door.
"Who is it?"
"It's me!" Seraphina's voice came through.
Lucas relaxed his nerves.
He had just dreamed of spiders crawling out of his body, his flesh being eaten away, and waking up to find himself drenched in sweat.
After recovering, Lucas replied irritably, "Why the hell are you knocking so early?"
Seraphina was also angry and replied, "Why did you shut off the lab access?"
"Didn't you see the message I sent you?"
Seraphina finally checked the message logs.
Lucas took the opportunity to glance at Seraphina's sanity.
Luckily, it had mostly recovered.
Sanity: 76/80
The recovery speed was pretty fast, and her mental attributes seemed high, plus her clothes were probably helping.
"You know you were in a crazy state yesterday, right?" Seraphina said, finally realizing what had happened.
It seemed like when someone went crazy, they wouldn't realize it or even check their sanity.
"So, how was the potion effect?" Seraphina quickly shifted the topic.
"The effect is great, but the side effects... well, you can see for yourself!"
Lucas sent Seraphina the potion's attributes.
"I see... But all potions have some side effects!" Seraphina explained.
"This side effect is unacceptable. You need to fix it!"
"If I fix it, I can't guarantee the same effect!"
"No problem!"
"What about the other two bottles? Did you drink them?"
At this point, Lucas was a bit annoyed.
"Why didn't you drink them yourself? Why do I always have to be the guinea pig?"
"The potion might affect sanity, and it's not safe for me to drink!" Seraphina replied confidently. "Plus, the potion tastes awful!"
"Ah..."
So Seraphina also knew how awful it tasted.
"You won't go insane from losing sanity, so it's fine for you to drink!" she added.
Lucas was speechless.
He knew he couldn't avoid being the test subject.
One bottle of Frenzied Elixir would lower sanity by 20, and if Seraphina accidentally drank a stronger version, she would fall into madness.
"How many bottles of this potion can you make?" Lucas suddenly asked.
After all, potions required materials, usually from demonic creatures and some bizarre beings.
"I can make three more bottles of the Frenzied Elixir. If you don't like it, I can try another formula with different ingredients..."
"For the red potion, it requires a devil shark's eye, so I can only make two bottles at most. The pink potion is mainly made from healing pearls, so I can make many bottles."
Seraphina explained.
"For the energy-boosting potion, change the formula so the effect is a bit weaker, but the ingredients should be easier to obtain. After all, sea monsters aren't easy to find."
Seraphina nodded in agreement.
"Also, you should limit the time spent in the lab. Only 8 hours a day. When time's up, I'll turn off your access!"
Seraphina seemed displeased, but didn't argue because Lucas was right.
After the access was restored, Seraphina was immediately alerted and rushed to the lab.
"This woman really enjoys messing with these abnormal things," Lucas muttered as he left the captain's quarters, grabbing his fishing rod and preparing to fish. Just as he was about to cast the line, he suddenly remembered something.
The Fire Fur Sweater!
He had forgotten to tell Seraphina about it.
He was planning to check the potential island for it.
Lucas immediately activated the Nightmare Star's surveillance skill to locate Henry's whereabouts.
[Searching... Big Sailboat... Henry...]
This time, he picked another person.
Soon, the crystal ball displayed an image.
It was a large sailing ship that had already reached Level 3, with two cannon ports on each side, equipped with cannons.
The captain was a young man with very fair skin, holding a telescope and looking at something.
And his position was very close to the island's coordinates—less than ten nautical miles away.
So this person was none other than Henry!
"What's he looking at?"
Lucas compared it with the map and felt that Henry was staring at the direction of that island.
To be safe, he sent a private message.
"If you want a sweater and pants set, how many Fire Fur Grass do you need?"
The person in the image immediately reacted, so it was indeed him!
"Just like the sweater, you need 10 Fire Fur Grass for the pants. So, for the whole set, prepare 20 Fire Fur Grass and 200 Seashell Coins for labor!"
"Alright!" Lucas smiled and continued observing.
The man seemed odd, standing by the ship's side for a while before steering the boat away.
But he didn't go far. He kept a distance of about 100 nautical miles from the island.
Then every 3 to 4 hours, he would sail over to take a look.
"This...?" Lucas narrowed his eyes.
