The calm Before The Storm

Chapter 39: The Calm Before the Storm

The morning sun crept over the horizon, casting a golden glow across the estate. Yet despite the peaceful sky, a tension lingered in the air — thick and heavy. The night's attack had shaken the pack, and while Damien had doubled security, everyone knew this was far from over.

Selene stood by the window in Damien's room, her fingers tracing the bandage wrapped around her arm. The dull ache of the wound reminded her that she couldn't afford to be careless again.

"Are you sure you're okay?" Damien's voice broke through her thoughts.

Turning, she found him leaning against the doorframe, shirtless, with his hair still damp from his morning shower. His gaze locked onto her bandaged arm, concern flickering in his eyes.

"I'm fine," Selene assured him.

"You say that, but you were almost taken last night," Damien said, walking closer. "I can't lose you."

"You won't," she promised.
