Chapter 19: The Queen Strikes Back

Vivian thought she could frame me.

She thought she could turn the company, the board, and even Nathaniel against me.

But what she didn't understand was who she was dealing with.

I wasn't just some woman who married into power.

I was a woman who knew how to take it.

And now?

It was time to remind her.

Lancaster Industries – Emergency Board Meeting

The boardroom was packed.

Nathaniel sat at the head of the table, his expression unreadable. Daniel was beside him, looking smug. And at the far end, Vivian was glowing with victory.

She thought this meeting would be my downfall.

She thought wrong.

One of the senior board members cleared his throat. "Mrs. Lancaster, these allegations are serious. Funds have gone missing, and the records link back to you."

I leaned forward, resting my elbows on the table. "Do they?"

Daniel smirked. "Oh, don't try to play innocent now. The evidence is—"

I slid a thick file across the table, cutting him off.

"Then let's talk about real evidence."

Nathaniel picked up the folder, flipping through it. His brows furrowed.

Vivian's smile slipped.

Daniel frowned. "What is this?"

I crossed my arms. "Bank records. Wire transfers. Private deals."

I tilted my head, letting the tension stretch before delivering the final blow.

"All linking back to Vivian Lancaster."

The room went silent.

Vivian's nails dug into the table. "This is ridiculous."

I smiled. "Is it?"

Standing, I walked toward the front of the room, letting my heels click sharply against the floor.

"You see, it wasn't difficult to figure out. Someone fabricated those documents to make me look guilty. But when you create false records, you have to be very careful." I turned to face them. "And Vivian? She got sloppy."

I gestured toward Nathaniel. "Take a look at the time stamps, darling."

His grip on the file tightened.

Because every single fraudulent transaction had been traced back to Vivian's accounts.

"You thought you could frame me," I continued, my voice like silk. "But in your desperation, you left your own fingerprints all over it."

Vivian's face paled.

Daniel looked at her in panic. "Mother?"

I smirked. Checkmate.

One of the board members exhaled sharply. "If this is true… Mrs. Lancaster, you will need to explain yourself."

Vivian opened her mouth, but before she could spin another lie—

Nathaniel spoke.

"Freeze all accounts under her name."

A stunned silence filled the room.

Vivian snapped her head toward him. "Nathaniel—"

He didn't even look at her. "Effective immediately."

Her breath caught. "You can't do this to me."

I leaned in, lowering my voice so only she could hear.

"You did this to yourself."

Vivian's eyes burned with hatred, but for the first time—there was something else.

Fear.

And that?

That was exactly what I wanted.

I wasn't going anywhere.

But she was.
