Chapter 96: A Mutant's Opportunity

When Charles and his group arrived in front of the Demon Corporation building, he couldn't help but feel a wave of emotions. He understood that this meeting was crucial for the future of mutants.

"Everyone, stay calm. We are here to seek cooperation," Charles said gently.

The group nodded and followed Charles into the building.

The lobby was dazzling, filled with modern decor and advanced technology. A professionally dressed woman approached them.

"Welcome to the Demon Corporation. I am Ellie, the receptionist. Please follow me; the leader is waiting for you," Ellie said with a warm smile.

Following Ellie, Charles and his group entered a conference room where Kino was already seated, awaiting their arrival. Beside him sat Venom.

With his newly acquired psychic abilities, Kino no longer needed to be on guard against Charles.

"Welcome, everyone. It's a pleasure to see you. This is my partner, Venom," Kino said with a smile.

Venom glanced at Jean, and Jean looked back at him.

Professor X also smiled in response. "Mr. Kino, it's a pleasure to meet you again. We are here today to discuss the future of mutants."

Kino observed the newcomers. Besides the familiar faces, there were a few others he hadn't met before.

Beast, Nightcrawler, and Storm.

Each one was an impressive individual.

"Charles, aren't you going to introduce the new members?" Kino asked.

"Of course. This is Hank. Many of the advanced technologies at the X Academy are his creations."

Hank stepped forward slightly, bowing politely. "Hello, Mr. Kino."

His deep, magnetic voice and intelligent blue eyes made a strong impression.

"Hello, Mr. Hank," Kino responded with a smile, his gaze filled with appreciation. Another technological genius.

"This is Kurt. His ability is teleportation, and he has long wanted to meet you," Professor X continued.

"Hello, Mr. Demon King—I mean, sorry," Kurt stammered nervously.

"It's fine. Your appearance feels familiar to me. Perhaps you'll get along well with my demons," Kino reassured Kurt, his face warm and understanding.

"I would love to meet them," Kurt said, his excitement barely contained. His unusual appearance had always made him feel like an outsider in the human world.

"You'll have the opportunity," Kino promised.

After their exchange, Charles introduced the final member.

"This is Storm, Ororo. Her ability is to control the weather."

Stepping forward confidently, Ororo asked, "Demon King, if I work under you, can I have access to the real 'Youth Elixir'?"

Kino was momentarily stunned, then nodded. "Of course. You will receive one vial every month."

"Generous and charming. I'm starting to like you more," Ororo said with a pleased expression.

Once everyone was seated, Logan eyed the liquor on the table and cast a glance at Kino in approval.

Charles then spoke, "Mr. Kino, let's discuss the future of mutants."

Kino nodded and replied, "Charles, I've also been reflecting on this issue. I have two plans in mind."

"Please, go ahead."

"First, we wait for the right opportunity."

"Opportunity?"

"Yes. Despite your efforts, the public perception of mutants hasn't significantly improved. What we need is a global crisis, one that threatens the world itself. Then, we save it."

"But we've already done that several times, and it hasn't changed public opinion," Charles sighed, worry clouding his face.

"The problem isn't the scale of the crisis; it's that too few people know the truth. Aside from some government officials, the public views these incidents as internal conflicts among mutants. Even after you save the world, people believe it is your responsibility. Many of you were involved in those events. What did the news report?" Kino's gaze swept across the group.

"The Apocalypse incident. The media only reported the destruction and casualties, blaming mutants while downplaying everything else," Scott said, his face heavy with sorrow.

Alex Summers—the name weighed on his heart like a stone, a constant reminder of his pain.

Ororo lowered her head, her expression filled with guilt. During the Apocalypse event, she had been an accomplice. Although she eventually turned back, the scars of her actions would never fade.

"That's exactly the issue," Kino said with a trace of frustration. "Mutants lack a voice in the world. And with Magneto constantly carrying out terrorist attacks, it's no wonder the public fears and distrusts you."

"It's all Magneto's fault," Hank said angrily, his blue face flushed with emotion. "If it weren't for his extreme actions, things wouldn't be so difficult."

Charles couldn't defend his old friend. He lowered his head slightly, his face filled with helplessness and bitterness.

"It's not that simple. While Magneto's actions are extreme and destructive, they also serve a purpose. His presence forces those in power to treat mutants with caution and restraint. This fear has given mutants a temporary peace, albeit at a terrible cost," Kino pointed out.

The room fell silent as everyone recalled their battles against the Brotherhood. Despite their conflicts, there was an unspoken rule: never kill fellow mutants.

Taking a steady breath, Charles asked, "But world crises don't just happen on command. How long do we wait?"

"Not long. Within a year, it will come," Kino said with unwavering certainty.

Recently, Kino had sensed a massive energy fluctuation. Thor had already returned to Asgard. In a year, the alien invasion would arrive.

Raising his head slightly, Kino's expression grew serious as he envisioned the coming battle.

"I can feel it. A great storm is approaching. And it will be the opportunity mutants have been waiting for."

Hearing Kino's words, the group felt a mix of anticipation and concern.

On one hand, this crisis might finally grant mutants a chance to change their fate. On the other hand, the unknown nature of the impending catastrophe filled them with dread.

"In the shadow of great storms, the seeds of revolution are sown."
