Chapter 34

Everyone witnessed Takumi completing the entire car.

When the decorations and car shell were finished, the people around couldn't help but be amazed. It was truly surprising.

Was this the finished product? It looked impressive.

Takumi started the car and began testing it. He had overseen its entire construction, so he was confident there would be no issues. Now, he wanted to test its power output.

If everything worked correctly, production could begin, and people could be taught how to operate the vehicle. Other types, such as dump trucks, could be developed as well.

However, traffic rules would need to be established. Even though the car was ready, there were still many preparations to make. Without proper regulations, accidents could happen.

...

Takumi tested forward and reverse movements, turning, accelerating, braking, and even a drift. The alchemists watching were stunned.

"Can you really drive like that?" they wondered.

After completing the test drive, Takumi nodded in satisfaction.

"There are no major issues. This small model is good to go. Next, we need to build a vehicle with a stronger engine for transporting goods. It needs to have more power."

Stepping out of the car, Takumi observed it with satisfaction. This was a product of alchemy and mechanics—far from the technological sophistication of his world, but for Teyvat, it was more than enough.

Hearing Takumi's words, Albedo added, "There is a more powerful energy core available. It's time to assemble it."

Everything was already prepared, and Albedo had designed multiple power cores.

The current one was the weakest model.

Takumi didn't hesitate and immediately instructed the team to assemble the more powerful engine and conduct further tests.

The next few days were busy.

Other alchemists also began constructing several smaller cars for training purposes. Keqing even joined in to learn how to drive.

Even Klee wanted to drive.

However, Takumi rejected her request, citing age restrictions. This made Klee unhappy, but Takumi pacified her by promising to help her create a super-sized bouncing bomb.

For the idle Qianyan Army, Takumi had them start learning how to operate the vehicles and introduced them to basic traffic rules.

The full traffic law had yet to be created, so Takumi planned to consult Yanfei for assistance. In the meantime, he implemented simple rules.

Since there were no traffic lights yet, the Qianyan Army just needed to learn vehicle operation.

After they mastered it, the traffic law would be finalized and introduced to the public.

A few days later, Takumi and his team completed the dump truck.

This vehicle was larger and taller than the previous one.

Looking at the newly built truck, everyone felt a sense of accomplishment.

Takumi wasted no time and instructed the workers to load the truck with stones for a test drive. The vehicle performed excellently and demonstrated sufficient power for transporting heavy loads.

Loading materials was still somewhat cumbersome, but overall, there were no major problems.

Once Takumi confirmed the vehicle's effectiveness, he activated his power and instantly created a dozen more dump trucks.

However, doing so completely drained his elemental energy.

His face turned pale.

"That was reckless! I should have made fewer at once," Takumi muttered, feeling exhausted and aching all over.

"Takumi, are you alright?" Keqing asked with concern.

Takumi shook his head. "I'm fine. Next, have the trained Qianyan Army familiarize themselves with these vehicles. They'll be responsible for material transportation to accelerate construction. Meanwhile, continue producing more vehicles. We're picking up the pace here."

Keqing nodded. "I'll personally oversee the process. But there's a problem."

She hesitated for a moment before continuing.

Takumi looked at her curiously. "What is it?"

"Can those wooden bridges support the weight of these vehicles? Not just here, but also in Liyue Harbor."

Keqing expressed her concern. The bridge at Liyue Harbor was made of wood. With these heavy trucks, it might not hold up.

Takumi stroked his chin. "You have a point. I'll ask the Geo Archon for help. We need to reinforce or replace that bridge. Otherwise, vehicle transport will be an issue. Some factories are outside Liyue Harbor, but we still need to pass through it for deliveries. If necessary, we can reroute the roads."

Indeed, the wooden bridge at Liyue Harbor had endured for years without issues, but with the added weight of trucks, it was likely to collapse.

"Then let's ask Zhongli to handle it," Takumi decided. "He should be able to construct a sturdier bridge."

Keqing was surprised. "You're going to ask the Geo Archon?"

"Of course. That's the best solution."

"Alright then," Keqing agreed.

Takumi then shifted focus. "For now, let's concentrate on getting the Qianyan Army to learn how to operate these trucks. Once that's settled, we can begin mass production. First, we'll meet our own needs before expanding."

"Tomorrow, I'll visit Miss Yanfei and start drafting traffic laws. I'll head back to Liyue Harbor in the morning."

With Takumi's instructions, the workers and alchemists cheered up and got back to work.

After organizing everything, Takumi called Albedo to discuss transformers and showed him the lights and wires he had created.

Cloud Retainer, who had been observing quietly, seemed intrigued by Takumi's technological advancements.

Now that the car was completed, she decided to stay a bit longer to see what other interesting things Takumi would come up with.
