Chapter 40

Takumi exited the exam room and briefly explained the functions of some of the test levels to Keqing.

Hearing Takumi's words, Keqing immediately understood. It seemed sufficient for most situations.

"Well, once the test room is built, you should also practice," Takumi said. "Make sure not to cross the lines. Take the model and have the workers build it."

He handed the task over to Keqing. As Liyue's land chief, it was appropriate for her to handle these matters.

Keqing nodded. "I understand. I'll arrange for some workers to start building it in a remote location."

With that, Keqing took the model and left. Seeing this, Yanfei stood up and said, "I'll take my leave as well. I'll return when I have the next draft ready."

Yanfei then left Wangshu Inn, got into her car, and placed her Vision into the energy absorption device. She carefully reversed before driving away.

Watching her leave, the corner of Takumi's mouth curved into a smile. Everyone had already started driving, and everything was progressing smoothly.

Takumi glanced around and noticed that Klee was no longer nearby. He immediately got up and headed to the alchemy workshop to check on the progress of the construction machinery.

Upon arriving at the massive alchemy workshop in Guiliyuan, Takumi saw a large machine—the excavator he had requested. However, it was not a crawler-type like those from his previous life but had four massive wheels instead.

At that moment, Cloud Retainer was directing the final assembly process with her alchemical techniques. When she saw Takumi, she waved her wings and greeted him.

"Takumi, you're here. Perfect timing. We've just finished. Would you like to test it?"

Takumi nodded. It looked well-made. As expected, they had completed it with ease.

Once the alchemists completed their final adjustments, the excavator was activated and driven outside to a testing area. Watching as it effortlessly dug into the ground, Takumi understood that it was a success.

"Check for any remaining issues, then send it to the construction site. We'll be needing it at the pier soon," he instructed. "Also, Cloud Retainer, please research an automated production line for manufacturing cars. We'll need it in the future."

Automated production would be essential since manually assembling each vehicle was inefficient. Takumi could not continuously create cars with his own power, so mass production was necessary.

Cloud Retainer nodded thoughtfully.

Takumi then moved on to inspect the bulldozer. It was in good condition, with only a few minor adjustments needed.

He admired Cloud Retainer's abilities—what these people lacked were ideas, but with guidance, they could create incredible things.

Satisfied, Takumi instructed them to begin mass production and then headed to Albedo's workshop.

Upon entering, he was greeted by flashing electrical sparks. Albedo was using Electro Slimes to generate electricity while Klee watched in fascination.

The electricity from the slimes was directed through a device, passed through wires, and transmitted to a light bulb. However, the power output was unstable, so Albedo was making adjustments.

Seeing this, Takumi knew Albedo was close to success. He quickly approached.

"You arrived just in time," Albedo said. "I'm almost done. And as per your suggestion, each household's electricity consumption will be recorded here. Right now, I'm working on a standard unit of measurement."

"I've already finalized the unit for water—measured in tons. But as for electricity... I'm not sure what unit to use. So for now, I'm basing it on the amount of electricity a single slime can generate in a day."

Takumi was momentarily stunned. "The amount of electricity a slime generates in a day...?"

He muttered to himself before shrugging. "Well, I suppose that works."

Standardizing electricity measurement in Teyvat was tricky, so setting their own baseline seemed reasonable. A slime-generated unit of power wasn't ideal, but it would do for now.

A single Electro Slime couldn't generate much power, but grouping them together could yield a significant output. Large-scale power stations could continually harness their energy.

Of course, relying solely on Electro Slimes wasn't practical in the long run. Future industrial developments would require much more power. At that time, proper power stations would be necessary.

Fortunately, Liyue had abundant energy sources. Hydroelectric dams could be built in the mountains, and wind energy was also an option.

Takumi remained in the workshop, observing as Albedo completed his adjustments. Once the system was stable, Albedo explained the principles behind the device to Takumi.

Understanding its mechanisms, Takumi realized he could now replicate and improve it. It was a powerful ability.

Once testing was complete, Takumi confirmed that everything was working as intended.

"That's perfect," he said. "The next step is to build a power plant. Albedo, would you like to be involved?"

Albedo nodded. "Of course. In fact, I'd like to set up a power station in Mondstadt as well."

He saw the potential benefits of electricity. He planned to install a generator in his laboratory. Whether Mondstadt would fully adopt the technology wasn't his concern, but he wanted to have it available.

With everything falling into place, Takumi felt confident that Liyue was entering a new era of technological advancement.
