Chapter 1

On the eve of my wedding, my mother was in a car accident and urgently needed matching blood.

Due to my mother's rare blood type, even though I had just found out I was pregnant, I still decided to donate blood for her.

However, when I miscarried from excessive blood loss, my fiancé and childhood sweetheart were solely focused on accompanying Aria, who was getting cosmetic surgery at the hospital.

Ignoring my pain, I begged on my knees, finally convincing my fiancé to personally operate on my critically ill mother.

After the surgery, Nolan said it had failed and my mother was gone.

Two days later, I overheard Aria's intimate encounter with the two brothers through the door.

Aria coyly said:

"Blaine, you really live up to being a race car driver. You hit that old lady so precisely. And Nolan, you're amazing too, you directly killed the old lady during treatment."

"Thanks to you both, I was able to get Seraphina's blood for my surgery."

...

————————

Though separated by a door, the intimate sounds of the two men and one woman inside the room were particularly clear.

Aria breathed softly, her voice sweet and alluring.

"Blaine, touch my face. Isn't it beautiful? Don't I look just as pretty as before?"

Blaine's voice was full of adoration.

"Aria has always been beautiful. Please don't ever go under the knife again. It breaks my heart even when you get a shot, let alone having such a major surgery."

Nolan, standing nearby, spoke up with obvious jealousy, vying for attention:

"Why ask only Blaine to touch you? Why not Nolan? If it weren't for my brilliant idea, how would you have gotten blood that matches your type, little missy?"

Aria let out a soft sound and began to reproach Nolan.

"I'm only letting Blaine touch me because he's loyal, unlike someone who claims to like me but actually got engaged to another woman!"

Nolan wasn't upset and patiently coaxed her:

"She's just a pawn I specially sought out for you, darling. No matter when, you're always the one I love most."

Aria wasn't buying it and continued to act spoiled:

"But you still got engaged to her, didn't you?" "If it hadn't been for her, I wouldn't have had my face ruined, yet you still wanted to marry her."

Nolan chuckled softly, then kissed her hard once more, his tone as light as if he were telling a joke.

"That was all just a stalling tactic. That's why we chose to strike the night before the wedding. Now that the old hag is dead, Seraphina certainly won't be in the mood to think about wedding plans."

"I have already given you the necklace made from Seraphina's ribs, so don't be mad at me anymore."

Aria rubbed her nose thoughtfully for a moment, then spoke languidly:

"True, I have to thank Seraphina's ribs for helping me get such a beautiful nose."

After a pause of two seconds, she blinked innocently, putting on a goody two-shoes act, as if the vixen from moments ago wasn't her at all.

"But Seraphina gave you her own ribs, she must love you very much. If she knew how you're treating her, she'd be heartbroken, wouldn't she?"

Blaine hugged Aria, affectionately nuzzling her face.

"Sweetheart, you're just too kind-hearted. Even now, you're still thinking about that wicked woman. Seraphina owes you all this." "Let alone giving up her own rib and blood, even if it leads her to death, she deserves it. That's the retribution she should receive."

These harsh words floated into my ears, unfiltered and raw.

As I heard this, my hand gripping the doorframe began to tremble, tears streaming unbidden down my cheeks.

So it turns out, my unwavering devotion to my fiancé and filial piety towards my mother were nothing more than dressing someone else's bride.

Just two days ago, I had miscarried due to severe blood loss. Now, hearing this brutal truth, my abdomen began to throb with intense pain once more.

In my daze, I recalled the image of my mother lying critically ill on the operating table.

That day, it was an emergency, and due to my mother's rare blood type, no one at the hospital dared to take on her surgery.

I had no choice but to go hither and thither regardless of my pregnancy to prepare a large amount of blood for my mother. However, just as the surgery was about to begin, the doctor on duty that night suddenly vanished without a trace.
