AFTERMATH

Noami closed the door behind her, without another word, she walked into her bedroom, shutting the door.

Tiffany sighed. Her phone buzzed, and she took it out, staring at Kai's message.

Kai: Goodnight. Love. See you tomorrow.

She rolled her eyes, a soft smile curved into her face, and slowly she headed towards her bedroom when Noami's door suddenly opened.

"You two are dating or getting married?" She asked, staring at Tiffany in disbelief.

"What—" Tiffany's eyes darted around, avoiding hers. "Oh, Kai... we aren't."

"You kissed him, but you aren't dating?" Noami asked. Tiffany smiled, walking away.

She shut her bedroom door behind her, leaning against it for a moment. The apartment was quiet again, but the conversation with Naomi lingered in her mind.

Kai… She pulled out her phone, rereading his message. Her heart did an annoying little flip, but she ignored it, locking her phone and tossing it onto the nightstand.

She changed into her pyjamas and slipped into bed, but instead of sleeping, memories of their kiss flooded her mind.

She groaned she was really losing it, but the way Kai looked at her, the way he felt—kept replaying in her head. The kiss. The heat.

She turned onto her side, staring at the ceiling, her fingers unconsciously brushing her lips until she slowly drifted to sleep.

The next morning. Tiffany woke early, the weight of the day pressing down on her before she even opened her eyes. She groaned, rolling over, but her mind was already racing.

Kai. London. The wedding.

She couldn't believe she had agreed to this. What happened to stay away from men? Trouble?

Dragging herself out of bed, she wrapped a robe around her and walked into the kitchen. The aroma of coffee filled the air. Naomi was already there, perched on the couch, scrolling through her phone.

As soon as she spotted Tiffany, she smiled. "You want some?"

"I couldn't sleep one bit. Of course," Tiffany grabbed a mug and took a sip, sighing as the warmth spread through her. This was exactly what she wanted.

"What's going on?" Noami asked, nudging her slightly. Tiffany looked at her, her mind wandering if it was best to tell her, but Noami seemed like the right person.

"What! You're going to London with him?"

"It's a wedding, I'm not fucking him," Tiffany said, slouching into the couch with a cup of coffee in her hands.

"Well, it's a matter of time," Noami said with no regret. Tiffany raised her eyes to hers, her brows furrowing in a puzzled frown. She released a cold smile.

Tiffany cleared her throat, looking away. She kept her face straight, but Noami wasn't all that wrong. Just like last night. She wasn't sure how much longer she could hold her desire for Kai.

"I just think want to help him. We haven't announced our divorce yet, and he doesn't want to attend the wedding alone, it would be suspicious."

"Well, did he say that? Are you sure this isn't some excuse he is using to get to you?"

"Are you concerned? You look amused," Tiffany said, sipping from the cup, her eyes glued on Noami who gave a smug smile, sitting beside her.

"No, I'm freaking happy for you, I mean, he is your first boyfriend, you get to date..."

"He isn't my boyfriend, I just said yes to his request."

Disappointed, Noami backed away, looking at Tiffany. "Are you sure? I mean that kiss was—"

Tiffany rose, her cheeks flushed. "You don't get to talk about my kiss, I don't."

Noami rolled her eyes. "So, when are you going?"

"I don't know... I have some clients coming in next week, and Oh..." she turned to Noami.

"I can't help you, I'm sorry... my boss has been really awful, I can't... I have to work overnight," Noami said, sipping her coffee; she got up without saying another word and walked into her bedroom.

Her door opened, and Tiffany looked back, staring at her.

"Hey, I know you want this, you don't have to deny it, but I think you should take it slow..." Noami said with a smile, before shutting the door behind her.

Three hours later, Tiffany stepped out of her apartment, and there he was, leaning casually against the wall, wearing one of the shirts he had purchased from her shop. Tiffany sighed heavily, yet softly, what was he doing here again after that kiss last night? Did this man not know shame?

"Good morning, love," Kai greeted smoothly. Tiffany looked at him, nodding slightly. "Going to work?"

Tiffany rolled her eyes, brushing past him. His hand darted out to take her bag, and she bristled. "I don't need you to help me," she snapped, yanking it back slightly, but he held it firmly. "What's next? Are you going to drive me to work too?"

Kai smirked but stayed calm. "Not a bad idea, actually. I'm meeting someone nearby anyway," he said, stepping into the elevator as if it had already been decided.

Tiffany followed reluctantly, glaring at him as the elevator doors slid shut. Her chest tightened with frustration, but she forced a slow breath. "Let's be clear," she started, her voice low, her tone measured but sharp. "I'm not your girlfriend. And that kiss—"

"You're not going to apologize, are you?" Kai cut her off, his eyes fixed on her.

She blinked, caught off guard. "No," she said firmly, though her voice faltered for a moment. "But I need time to think about it... I have a lot going on."

His piercing blue eyes didn't waver. "Take all the time you need," he said.

The elevator dinged, breaking the tension. Tiffany stepped out without another word, snatching her bag from his grip. She didn't look back as she strode toward the building's entrance, muttering under her breath, "What's wrong with me? Ugh, I've never been this confused."

She was so lost in thought that she didn't see the figure in front of her until she bumped into him. Startled, she looked up—and there he was Daniel, standing tall and steady with that familiar soft smile of his. Her heart skipped an unbidden beat.

"Hey," he said, his voice warm.

"Oh, hey," she replied, her smile faltering slightly. For a moment, she stood frozen.

"I was wondering if I could have breakfast with you," Daniel said, his soft voice sounding like a melody. "I can drop you off at work after if you have the time."

Before Tiffany could answer, Kai's voice cut through the moment like a blade wasn't soft like Daniel.. "Too late. She's with me," he said, his tone colder, almost harsh, as he stepped out of the building behind her.

Tiffany's eyes widened. "What?" she muttered, spinning to face Kai, wearing a confused expression even though she had ridden the elevator with him.

The sharp honk of a car interrupted them and they turned toward the sound to see a sleek black car parked. The window was rolled down, and Henry was grinning ear to ear, waving to Kai.

"Kai!" Henry called out and continued waving as he stepped out of the car.

Tiffany glanced at Kai, whose expression had soured. She pressed her lips together, stifling a laugh, knowing that Kai disliked unexpected visitors. The look on his face was priceless.

"Seems like you've got company, Mr. Billionaire," Daniel said, sarcastically. He turned to Tiffany. "Don't worry. She's with me. I'll take care of her."

Kai's jaw tightened, but before he could respond, Henry bounded up to them with his usual exuberance. "Mrs Winson, it's lovely to see you again," Henry said, beaming. His eyes caught Kai's deadly cold eyes, "Tiffany, forgive me."

"No, it's fine," Tiffany said quickly, smiling politely. "Henry, right? Kai's told me a lot about you. Congratulations on your wedding, by the way."

Henry looked at Kai completely caught off guard. "Wedding?" he echoed, before laughing nervously. "Ah, yes. Thank you." He shot Kai a quick glance, but Kai's face remained impassive, his hands tucked into his pockets as he watched.

"Tiffany," Daniel called softly, his voice drawing her attention back to him.

She hesitated, looking between the three men. "Oh, um, right. I'll leave you to… your friend," she said awkwardly, brushing past Kai to follow Daniel toward his car.

Kai said nothing, his gaze following her until she disappeared into the passenger seat. "Wedding? I had no idea I was getting married." Henry teased.

Kai exhaled sharply, his icy-blue eyes narrowing. "Why the fuck are you here?" his voice was devoid of any semblance of warmth, but his gaze fixed on Daniel's car driving away.
